Drake is Canada’s own ersatz rapper for tweens. Used to be an actor on a teen TV show (Degrassi)…
Canadian radio / TV has to play a minimum amount of Canadian content. Usually a good thing but means I encounter his schlock more often than I would like.
“Mr. B fronted on us today – he never said why he removed that post. I think he’s starting to get some s*it for posting people’s addresses. If you’re going to do stuff like that, you better be ready to handle the consequences.”
I agree. But, almost every great musical genre has its “classic” that marks the zenith of its creativity and value. For hip hop it was the 1980s and 1990s. I choose to celebrate that period.
I’ve never even heard of Drake. I haven’t turned on the radio (except for 1010 Wins) in months. Just too much crap. Lately I just bob my head to some Al Green and Diana Krall and call it a day.
“That hurts my heart, and my first instinct was to reply that it isn’t, but I can’t even come up with a semi-intelligent argument as to why it’s still alive, kicking and important today.”
Yeah – I don’t get any joy out of saying that, i think it’s sad! no one is ‘real’ anymore. rappers get signed and paid before they ever write a lyric nowadays.
Drake is a fake ass p*ssy who acted on a canadian soap opera when he was a teenager
“I agree. Going to talent lessons from age 8 and having people write songs for you and Autotune each line and sipping bottled water while onstage and ending on time and going to your dressing room to Tweet about animal rights – that’s not my idea of music.”

80s-90s rap is where it’s at! The only truly good stuff, IMO.
