  1. Yes, Denton, nice photo. I can see that Mr. B. would like it because he likes photos of walls from this angle and these are the kinds he takes. I like this old weathered brick where you can still see the details. Then there is a hint of new life in the red windowsill flowers.

  2. That article on PLG can’t be called “fluffy” compared to most RE articles on neighborhoods. It portrayed Flatbush and other commercial arteries honestly and addressed the ways residents hope they’ll improve. I loved the photos; the photographer focused more on people and the general environment, not merely showcasing fabulous houses. Refreshing.

  3. Babs, I don’t if the NYT prices are as understated as you think. Per Trulia, 207 Lincoln went or 990K and 136 Hawhorne for 932K (the latter outside the manor and the HD), And as for rents, I know ofseveral floorthroughs in townhouses in PLG that range from 1600 to 1800.

In balance, it was a pretty fluffy article, but it could have been worse.

  4. “Are you always such a dumb-ass? Read the story.”

My username is not DD, dumbass dick. Read the Daily News version. She was out at 10pm riding a bike. 2 years old!!! I call that irresponsible from a parent standpoint. ACS, you out there?

  5. It seems like they didn’t interview a lot of people – it was pretty clear that the author just spoke to people over the phone and never even made it to PLG. As for the photographs, they look like the photographer got off the train, ran over to Sterling St., took a bunch of photos, and then one on Maple Street before hightailing it back to Manhattan. And talk of all the trees on Maple Street missed one important point – most of them are NOT maples. The prices quoted by that Corcoran broker are overstated, as are the rents – 1 – 2 families in the historic district (but not the Manor) go for $630K – $750K, depending on condition, while one families in Manor range from $750K – $1.3 million, depending on size and condition. Two families on the n. side of Lincoln Rd., as large ad Manor houses, but with the possibility for rental income (a total of 13 houses), are rarely available, and most are in not great shape. One in good shape is in contract for approx. $900K. 2 bedroom rentals go for $1400 – $1600 in apartment buildings and houses; they’ve come down over the past two years.

  6. IMO the PLG “Living In” article is the best of the four the Times has run over the last 30 years [even though they left out a lot, referred to Rutland STREET and didn’t interview me 🙂 ]
