That is definitely crazy. There were loud popping and gurgling noises coming out of the manhole in addition to towering plumes of black smoke. Must have been disruptive to the yoga practice going on in the corner storefront.
You know what’s crazy? I walked by at 5 and Con Ed had been notified. At 6:30, small explosions were still occurring and Con Ed still had not shown up!! WTF?? Are they waiting for a massive explosion and blackout before deciding to stop by?
