We reported back in January that Joya, the Thai restaurant with its roots in Cobble Hill, had expansion plans for Fort Greene. Now, notes a tipster, the new Fulton Street location is coming into high resolution: There’s an angled glass facade in place and a menu on the door that looked rather similar to the Court Street one to us. Wonder if they’ll also have a live DJ, which is what the Court Street restaurant offers its late night crowd.

I prefer Lemongrass but the 2 locations in Brooklyn (7th Ave & Court Street) wont deliver to 11217 at all.
Lucky Fort Greene and the restaurants they have opening up there. I think with this Thai place that about does it. Well maybe with the exception of a Russian eatery, they have it all and all within a few blocks radius. From Greene to Lafayette you can stroll and choose. That stretch is poppin.
Cobble Hill Joya – really loud and the food (three different entrees) was just OK. Not going back.
I have only tried eating inside Joya twice, and it was totally unbearable both times. The second time, my husband and I needed to actually talk to one another about some plans, and we were literally screaming. Are you supposed to sit there in silence? Is the blaring music ricocheting off the concrete box you’re in part of the deal? Baffling.
Song isn’t even the best food in Park Slope.
Besides Mee Thai, Mango is most definitely better than Song too.
Joya and Song – same owners, same prices and give or take = same food.
I like it- cheap – reasonably good and consistent – is it the best thai food – I doubt it – but for my American palette it is good whatever it is. [Although I dont ‘mind’ the DJ- I do agree with the question – WHY? Thai=DJ – I dont get it]
My question is how many locations do they need before we are supposed to oppose it for being a chain??
The Cobble Hill Joya is much better than Song.
And, if I remember correctly, cheaper, too.
Mee Thai has almost as good food as some of the more famous places in Queens. I’m a convert.
Their drunken noodles rival any in the city.
11217, Song was horrible and just last week I was dragged to Joya (again my will because of my SONG experience) and it actually was much better food eventhough it has the same owners, which frankly really surprised me. It was just as loud as Song though so you can barely hear each other speak.
