A Brooklynian commenter wondered what was to become of the storefront at 7th Avenue and 9th Street (the old Second Helpings spot at 448 9th) and was pointed to this discussion started by a possible Park Slope restaurant owner. This nameless proprietor took to the Brooklynian boards for ideas for a grab-and-go food spot to open on 7th Avenue. There have been plenty of impassioned responses, so far the leading contenders are a salad bar, dumplings, and BBQ. There’s no confirmation this will be opening in the Second Helpings spot, though. Thoughts for a 7th Avenue grab and go spot? GMAP
BTW – there is actually some renovation being done in this space, so something is happening.
Mmmm…dumplings. Good ones, like from the truck.
Get Fresh on 5th Ave tried something similar to that. It was hella expensive though, and they ended up morphing into an actual restaurant (with tasty results).
Busy Chef–that was the name! A good idea that could be done better (and, you know, not by crims).
What about well-done, healthy(ish) prepared meals and sides that you heat up/finish off at home? Something like Lassen & Henning does (simple main dishes, salads, sides, desserts), but on a larger scale.
There was a place on Henry a couple of years ago where that was their thing. It was a nice option for weeknight meals, especially if people come home at different times or are craving different things. But it was a part of that stretch of businesses that closed do to some nefarious dealings. Ugh, I can’t remember the name.
Russo’s is literally a 2 minute walk away, Grumpy.
363 7th Avenue.
Everything Italian you could want.
An inexpensive take out place, everything on steam tables that someone packs for me. Not a sit down restaurant, not another over hyped overpriced eatery. Yeah, Italian, I like Italian. Make it 21..
Brains… hmmm, now that’s an idea. The zombie community is vastly underserved cuisine-wise in Brownstone Brooklyn.
Italian must be a joke.
More Italian (and Mexican and Bahn Mi) in the Slope than brains.
