its used as a temple..one year there was a ceremony with masonic symbols painted either on the sidewalk or road.
They, also, rent the space out for parties
It is on Clermont and Lafayette and from what I understand has a number of active lodges. The Society for Clinton Hill is holding a meeting there next month, jointly with its Fort Greene counterpart.
I’m not sure if this it Ft Greene or Clinton Hill, but there is an active Masonic Temple down the street from Choice Cafe. i stumbled into it one day and saw pics of the “King” and “Queen”.
I think it is used as a Masonic temple. The Clinton Hill Cooperative Apts. also use it for their semiannual residents’ meetings (at which there is never a “quorum,” no matter how many hundreds of us show up!).

http://www.nymasons.org/cms/districtsonline there doesn’t seem to be a Brooklyn lodge listed.
Masons lodge buildings have very few windows, don’t think they would convert well to dorm/housing space.
what is the temple currently used as?
these things are cool…i remember a someone was interested into converting an abandoned temple in Binghamton(similar size/design) into student housing. would be nice, but never worked out…
