The Fort Greene Park Conservancy is taking it up a notch (or three) this year with a blowout gala at the Masonic Temple on October 14. The music will be killer (Afrika Bambaataa is headlining with support from the Daptone Family DJs), there will be amazing food from local spots like Greene Grape Provisions, Roman’s, and Baked, and you’ll even get to have your portrait taken in a trampoline photo booth. (Click on the image above to see the full-size invite with detailed info.) Most importantly, you’ll be helping to raise money that will go to underwriting the free programming in the park, which in 2011 will include outdoor films, public art, and a collaboration with Strategic Neighborhood Action Plan (SNAP) on an 8-week series targeting youth ages 14-18. If you use the park, please help support it. You can buy tickets online–or stop by The Flea tomorrow between 12 and 3. Mrs. B (who’s involved in organizing the even) will be out front selling tix and we’ll be throwing in a free Brownstoner t-shirt with every ticket purchase (while supplies last).
Just to be clear…this has nothing to do with 1981’s “Dance Craze”, right? I just got a little overexcited when I first saw it. That wasn’t nice.
