There was a small sign up on the storefront at 437 3rd Avenue, right next to Four and Twenty Blackbirds. Looks like it will be the new home of Michael and Ping’s, which claims to be “revolutionizing the Chinese take out experience.” According to their Facebook page, they had all the equipment in about a month ago and should be opening soon. They also posted a picture up of a huge skylight they installed over the seating area. Are Gowanus residents psyched? GMAP

  1. The inside skylight looks amazing. Remember, there’s a 5 story condo going up right next door, I hear the bottom is supposed to be all commercial, 4&20 & Chinese are just getting in ahead of the game (and possible $$$ rent). Hope they signed a 10 year lease.

  2. “Huh. Actually, this Gowanus resident is reasonably psyched. Chinese takeout around Gowanus and the Slope could use some “revolutionizing.” Obviously I hope it’s not overpriced, but I won’t join in that cynicism before it even opens.” (ninethreesix)

Likewise. Totally. It’d be awesome to be able to have decent Chinese food delivered.

  4. Judging from the pics of the interior of the place on facebook, it looks as though it’s going to be a little more than just a Chinese take out spot.

Maybe this is the high end Chinese originally planned for the old Tempo spot on 5th Avenue that eventually became Fornino Pizza.

At some point there was talk that the guys from Stone Park were going to open “high end Chinese”

    Wonder if this is it….
