We’ve been keeping an eye on this little storefront on the Luquer Street side of Prime Meats, and it looks like the snug space, which is attached to the restaurant, is going to be Prime Meats Delicat-essen and Provisions. So far, the shelves are stocked with pantry supplies — like Frankies olive oil — and there were a couple of sausages on display in the deli case, beside big rolls of butcher paper. Looks like the neighbors will soon be serving Prime Meat brats at backyard barbecues. Anyone know when it’s opening? GMAP

Mastellone’s at Court and Degraw also make excellent old school sandwiches.
If folks want real Italian deli stuff at half the price, I recommend Pisa Salumeria on the corner of West 6th Street and Kings Highway in Gravesend. It’s the real deal.
Also, any Italian in Brooklyn or Staten Island will tell you that the place to go for Italian supplies is Coluccio’s on 60th Street and around 15th Ave in Borough Park. The place is in a lousy location (60th Street is filled mostly with auto body shops there), but they have the best stuff, at the best prices.

I haven’t checked it out yet, but Fornino on 5th Avenue just opened their store last week too. Italian stuff…
I walked by and saw a bunch of things like homemade pasta sauce, sausages, cheese, etc…and it looks directly into the kitchen of the restaurant which is kinda cool too.
Probably will go this weekend and see what all they have.

so will this be like a good ol’ deli where you can go in and order a delish sandwich like in Long Island?
DH – I know you know what I am talking about – Long Island deli’s are amazing for the most part!
I do love it, DH. They have a really terrific cheese & meat selection and their olive oil is great too (and not too $$).
I also LURVE their sandwiches and homemade gelato (and I’m not a gelato person).
It’s expensive, but the quality is first rate.
But Prime Meats deli is going to do great. I really enjoyed their restaurant….probably one of the best meals I had all year.
I think you can take out the borderline, bet these guys have more groupies than most Brooklyn bands at this point…
