Artist Patrick Dougherty will be in the Brooklyn Botanic Gardens until the end of this month constructing a monumental woven-wood sculpture with the help of volunteers for the Brooklyn Botanic Garden’s centennial. The artist creates large-scale, nest-like sculptures from organic matter, so the sculpture changes as the sticks decay. The installation at the Botanic Gardens is made from material collected in Staten Island’s Ocean Breeze Park. You can check the progress of this incredible project here.

i believe the same artist made one of these at the morris arboretum in philly. the kids were running through it this weekend. beautiful work.
