Checkers Coming to Bed Stuy
A tipster just sent in this photographic evidence that Checkers, the popular burger chain, is coming to Bed Stuy. The storefront at 491 Nostrand Avenue, just north of Fulton Street, now has a small sign up announcing Checkers’ imminent arrival. Presumably this means that the one on Court Street is kicking ass. How am I the first person to comment on the tagline: “You Gotta Eat!”? In other words, the folks at Checkers feel that faced between the choices of starving to death or eating at Checkers, you should eat at Checkers. Hardly a ringing endorsement.
They are no way close to the quality of five guys. Just a glorified Mc Donalds. Just what Empire and Washington Ave needs.
Subway uses high fructose corn syrup in their bread. That makes me sad.
There is nothing “healthy” about Subway. Same giant pieces of refined carbs and soda that cause diabetes and obesity that you get at Checkers and every other fast food joint.
We already have a Checkers in Bed Stuy, and it’s very good. On Broadway at the Halsey J stop.
So there.
Tastes a lot like Shake Shack, which I also like, only the fries are better. Obviously, the quality of the meat is better at Shake Shack, but the style is the same.
However, all that said, it is not a proper meal. It is a snack. No green vegetables, and you will be hungry 45 minutes later.
But it is good!
Gross. Go away Checkers.
there’s already a Checkers on Broadway & Macon.
I saw this on Friday too as I was walking to Ms Dahlia’s and hoped it might be a 5 guys-ish type burger joint, but I looked on Yelp and it seems pretty much everyone is revolted by the food and the service 🙁
Minard, there’s already a Subway a few doors up the block for those who want “healthier” fast food.
