We were excited when Bed Stuy Blog reported back in July that Bed Stuy would be getting a new market—one that sounded considerably nicer than what the neighborhood has historically been used to. So we were pleased to read that Chestnut Market, as it’s called, has opened. “The kosher supermarket sports a bright clean interior and is, by Brooklyn standards at least, quite spacious,” according to the blog. “The market has a sushi bar in the back, although it wasn’t open when I visited [and] has a really good selection of fruits, vegetables, nuts and snacks.” The only bad news: Don’t go a-shopping from sundown on Friday through Saturday. i.e. it’s not a bodega, rob.
Inconvenient if not open Saturday.
