Less than six months after renovations began, Aeropostale, the casual apparel retailer with over 900 stores around the country, opened its new location on the Fulton Mall on Friday. The store is the company’s second-biggest in New York City after its Times Square one. We heard it was hopping over the weekend.

  1. tybur6 they put a lot of steel into the space, made it multi level not your typical wham bang thank you m’am store set up

their is a science now of retail layouts and appearances….

good sound system, a bit loud though for us geezers

  2. “Less than six months after renovations began” — The tone of that strikes me as an accomplishment… really? SIX MONTHS to build out a retail space? Not even a restaurant or other store with complicated mechanicals.

Crazy high retail rent combined with SIX MONTHS being considered an accomplishment for a build-out… I’m surprised there are any businesses in this city. But you should NOT be surprised that the only businesses that can accomplish this 1/2-year of huge expense/no revenue are going to be National/International Chain Stores!!!

  3. “based on other comments you’ve made, hipper and less Republican.”

Ummm, pete is not at all Republican.
Maybe you’re thinking of benson or dave?
Pete’s one of our few union guys, at least for the next two days.

  4. I am probably younger than you Petey and based on other comments you’ve made, hipper and less Republican.

You’re right vet; my needs are immaterial here. But it’s a blog so I thought I’d express my personal opinion.

  5. “actually, due to french accent on first e, accent aigu,
    should be A-roh-post-ahl syl. stress i don’t know ”

it’s a lot easier to just call it “that store that sells ugly clothes to suburban teenagers”
