From the Forum: Would You Add Architectural Details to a Plain Brownstone?
The exterior of a brownstone has no interesting architectural detail and a potential buyer is wondering whether or not to add some character.
A reader is considering purchasing a brownstone with no significant exterior detail and is wondering about adding ornamentation. Like the neighboring brownstone, the building doesn’t have a cornice, lintel or sill details and the owner suspects that it may not originally have had much adornment. Would it be odd to add decorative details to the house?
Please chime in with your advice.
