This week, all of our open house picks are over $1 million. Three appear to be in move-in condition, one needs work and all of them are located in Bed Stuy.

First, we have a circa 1880 brownstone at 24 Halsey Street, in the Bedford Historic District. Currently configured as a triplex above a garden rental, it has a small platformed stage in the backyard. It’s been recently renovated, according to the listing, with a large eat-in kitchen at the back of the parlor floor that has a center island that doubles as a breakfast bar, black cabinetry on both sides of the room and new appliances. There are also new bathrooms — the one pictured has white subway tile, penny tile floor, double sink and shower that’s behind a dividing wall. The bedrooms, of which there are five total, are all spacious. Some original details remain, including four mantels, some original floors, mahogany woodwork and the walnut staircase.

After that, we have another brownstone in Bed Stuy, this one located on Hancock Street. It’s configured as a one-family (the listing says it’s actually a two-family), with an eat-in kitchen and living room on the garden floor and a screened-in porch off the back of the parlor. There are a total of four bedrooms, each quite large; the two bedrooms on the top floor each have their own walk-in closets. The backyard has an elevated patio that looks quite relaxing, and the interior has five mantels, some original floors and wall moldings. The kitchen and baths — a total of three full baths in the home — are new. If that doesn’t whet your appetite, apparently the open house also features a hot sauce tasting, for what it’s worth.

The next is a two-story limestone townhouse on Clifton Place that’s currently configured as a two-family, with kitchens on both floors, and a fair amount of original detail. This one is in need of some updates — especially in the kitchens and baths, which have seen better days, but the entire thing needs work. There are three full baths in the house, one in the basement, and a nice-sized backyard.

Ending our open house journey this week is a 20-foot wide brownstone on Madison Street with four mantels, wedding cake ceiling moldings, crown moldings, built-in shelving, original staircases and hardwood floors. It’s a two-family that’s currently configured as a one-family, with a kitchen and bathrooms that could use an update. There are two full baths, a single half bath, and a glassed-in sunroom off the back that is unfortunately not pictured. It was last purchased in September for $1.2 million and is back on the market two months later.
