Started by partners John Kim and Tai Ming Moy, KIMOY Studios is a full service New York based design firm providing architectural and interior design services. Their experience spans a range of architectural types and scales including single and multifamily residential, office/retail, and cultural institutions. They approach every project with a belief that design can impact life at every scale, designing custom solutions specific to each client. John Kim received his Bachelor of Science in Architecture from the University of Virginia in 1997 and his Master of Architecture from Columbia University in 2003. Between degrees he was at Smith Group in Washington D.C. where he was an integral team member on the Smithsonian Institute’s National Museum of the American Indian and the support/research facilities located in nearby Maryland. Prior to KIMOY Studios, John worked at Resolution for Architecture where he was instrumental in developing and implementing the firm’s prefabricated building program. In addition, he worked on numerous residential and commercial projects located throughout the country from the local metro New York area to Wisconsin and as far away as California. His work at Resolution for Architecture has won several AIA awards and has been featured in several print, online and television media outlets. He maintains ties to the academic world by serving as guest critics for various classes at Columbia and Pratt Universities. John is a registered architect in the state of New York. Tai Moy received his Master of Architecture from Columbia University in 2003 and his Bachelor of Art in Art History at Vassar College. After Vassar, Tai ran his own design and fabrication studio creating jewelry, objects and furniture for private and retail clients. After Columbia, Tai worked at Steven Learner Studio, an architecture and interior design firm specializing in art world related clients. While there, he headed numerous residential and commercial projects ranging from loft renovations for art collectors to commercial galleries and private museums. His work has been featured in the New York Magazine, New York Times, The New York Times Magazine, Art+ Auction and Town and Country.
