South of Market

Kay Douglass Interiors (KDI) began, simply, in 1996 with a friend’s plea for Kay to use her creativity and assist in re-working some small spaces in her home. Through word of mouth and a bit of trust, many referrals and projects later, Kay Douglass Interiors was off and running.



In 2007, Dixie Peeples officially joined the design team. She began with Kay when she opened the Charleston branch of Kay’s retail showroom, South of Market. Dixie now serves as a lead designer, project manager and has just taken on the challenge of opening the 3rd location of South of Market in NYC’s prestigious Tribeca area.



This duo’s design style has been described by many as clean lines mixed with texture and usually incorporates an element of surprise. In Kay's own words, "We love clean lines, European-influenced upholstery pieces, mixed with unexpected uses of color. Scale reigns supreme when planning our spaces and always look out for something out of the ordinary!”



KDI projects have been featured in publications including: House Beautiful, Veranda, Traditional Home, Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles and the Russian, French and Brazilian versions of Elle Decor. Recently completed and current projects include homes in Atlanta, Charlotte, Savannah, Houston, New York, Alys Beach and Rosemary Beach, FL.
