"Williamsburg’s Austro-Hungarian beer hall serves a deep selection of imported brews and Hofbräuhaus-style brats one block and half a hemisphere off the Bedford Avenue drag... Here, rib-clinging grub, whipped up by [co-owner] Ivan [Kohut]’s wife and executive chef Joanna, includes quail in Dunkel-beer sauce, veal schnitzel, stuffed blintzes, and a scrape-the-plate-delicious apple strudel," writes Amanda Pressner for New York magazine.

The Village Voice says, "Scrapping the usual Buffalo wings and burgers, the abbreviated bill of fare is unusual, slightly upscale – and wonderful. The terrine mixing the livers of rabbits and chickens is superb, served with a plethora of toasts; while the roast quail in demi glace is the equal of any found in a fancy French restaurant. Vegetarians will dig the spinach palacinki (crepes) in a cheesy tomato sauce."

Although the food is highly regarded, this place is primarily a drinking spot. Joshua M Bernstein for Citysearch writes: "Artists and trendy Billyburgers order sobriety-quashing mugs of dark Weihenstephaner Dunkel Weisse and sparkling Pilsner Urquel, which are clinked loudly and lustily long into the night. Need a space for 25 of your closet comrades? Arrive early, and you can hijack a candle-topped wooden table nearly as long as most railroad apartments." How would you rate Radegast Hall & Biergarten?

LOVE this place! The regular menu is chock full of deliciousness - sausages, cheeses, sandwiches, traditional fare. Then there's the Grill at the back of the side room with the picnic tables where you can get grilled kielbasa, portabella mushroom 'burgers' and fries. LONG list of beers too. I've posted about Radegast a few times - check out the photos here: http://eatbrooklynfood.blogspot.com/2008/10/kielbasa-bratwurst.html

went here for the first time last weekend. What a great find! Ordered a german beer that I didn't particularly like upon first sip and the waitress kindly replaced it with something else no charge. Had the bratwurst/kraut/fries which was delicious (minus the fries which were stale from sitting under a heat lamp). The scene is cool - I love the skylit beer garden with the long tables - big groups of friends playing card etc, and the bar area is very dark with tons of nooks n crannies. Only complaint is that there were A LOT of kids/babies. Granted, it was Saturday late afternoon, but come on. One of the long tables was entirely occupied by some kids birthday party. :-(

Really love this place. Honestly, I think this place and a very few others make Williamsburg worth going to! :-)

Just went here for first time Saturday. Beer was great, with some interesting selections. So was atmosphere, but some of the entrees were mediocre. My husband liked his steak, but we were all underwhelmed with the chicken entree (too little chicken on the plate for the price) and the veal schnitzel was a little dry. Next time, I'd stick to the simpler stuff like the wursts, especially based on comments here. I'd also like I'd enjoy a Sunday afternoon better vs. a Saturday night.

I LOVE this place but I hate crowds. So, go late or early (as in for brunch on Sunday- which they do really well).

Fun place, but as southslope mentioned it gets REALLY crowded. Go early, or you might end up at The Levee across the street, which would be unfortunate (unless you like Black Label beer and cheese balls)

I love me some Radegast. I've held my birthday celebration here the past 2 years and everyone has had a blast. Initially many were skeptical about trekking to W-burg from Manhattan, but once they got their visas in order and discovered the great beer and sausages at Radegast, they're ready to keep coming back.

Love this place. I've never ordered off the main menu, mainly because the grill in the back is super cheap and delicious. Great beer, very nice feel to the place.
