Chickadee Chick

"This diminutive storefront specializes in free-range chicken that’s butterflied, steeped in a lemongrass marinade overnight, and set on a char grill that’s visible to customers and passersby. The chicken is sold by the whole, half, or quarter, and you can also get 'bon bon wings' in spicy chili sauce," writes Daniel Maurer for New York magazine.
The school desks on the sidewalk aren't the most romantic place to enjoy a chicken burger, let alone a whole on-the-bone bird (which is priced at $11.95) so take-out is the main attraction here. Yelper TV writes, "Wasn't INCREDIBLE but better than fast food chicken...The chicken sandwich I got was very good, the fries were a little soggy but the flavor was good and I had a black and white milkshake that was GREAT." How would you rate Chickadee Chick? Any word on their frozen custard?

I think Daniel Maurer of New York magazine needs to learn what a word means before he uses it... Why exactly is this a "diminutive storefront" To be generous, if he's making a play on words about the name -- then it has nothing to do with the "storefront." The storefront is not small... so it's not *literally* diminutive, nor is it really large... so it's not lamely *ironically* diminutive.
I don't get it. Though, I like chicken a lot... so I will have to swing by this place. I just think newspapers and magazines should actually EDIT their writers' work -- or else the decline of the written word will only accelerate.

Its ok at best - weird seasoning and not that moist......
A take-out "window" that basically only has chicken and is called chic-a-dee chick should by definition have great chicken (its easy to focus on making it good isnt it?) and yet the chicken here was basically the equivalent of a fairway rotisserie bird.

This place is terrible. The chicken is dry, the fries are straight out of a high-school cafeteria, and it's expensive for fast food. I predict it goes out of business in 6 months or less.

I hope these guys pull it together. It is the same manager/owner as Hanabi -- REALLY nice people who care about the neighborhood. I live around the corner and was so excited to see this coming -- I had visions of a 3x/week takeout stop on my way home from work. It's kind of overpriced for what it is, and their cooking method leaves it a bit dryer than rotisserie chicken. But when you compare it to the rotisserie chicken (with beans, rice, tortillas, and sauces) that you can get at Uncle Moe's, or the chicken specials from Coco Roco, it's not a great value for what it is.

I was disappointed. I was hoping this would be a great place for chicken on my way home on nights I dind't feel like cooking, as it is right around the corner from me. It is a bit expensive for fast food, and unfortunately that's all it is. Dry chicken, small portions, and not the best seasoning. I won't be back.
