Two Boots Brooklyn

Menu

Two%20Boots%20Brooklyn.jpg
"Decorated with paper lanterns and twinkle lights, Two Boots' main room looks like a birthday party on steroids... This Cajun-Italian menu is lengthier than its Manhattan counterparts--here, adventuresome diners can still design their own pies, but they can also feast on oversized plates of peel-and-eat old bay shrimp and cajun spaghetti with meatballs enlivened with andouille sausage," says Citysearch.

And Yelper Amanda H. writes, "How cute is this place? Love the little Christmas lights all over, bright colors, wild decorations - the atmosphere and vibe was like being at a little dive in Austin, TX. Friendly service, awesome live music, yummy pizza, DELICIOUS sangria." But fellow Yelper Jess H. is not feelin' the kid-friendly vibe: "This place is overrun by screaming children constantly. Both the parents and the staff don't care... It's like a slow, migraine-inducing torture." What's your take on Two Boots Brooklyn?

They make great pizza and a passable chicken fried steak. I rarely go, however, because of the "overrun with screaming children" factor.

It's a fun place. Lots of stuff to distract kids and make them hyper.

Not a good spot for jaded loners to have a quiet meal.

Good place to take the 3 yr old nephew though.

When I'm not feeling to jaded or lonerish, of course.

This was a GREAT place to go when I had young kids. We were regulars for years, but I haven't been there in a long time. There must be times when it's not overrun with kids, though. There's a bar up front, sometimes they have live music, and in warm weather their outdoor area is very pleasant. Great, inexpensive food, and a festive atmosphere. And if you can't stand the little ones -- THEY DELIVER! And they've got the best gourmet, thin crust pizza in the Slope (aside from Franny's, of course).

I really love the pizza. I take it to go to avoid the crush of little feet.

I like this place and I don't have any kids. The outdoor patio is so nice to share a drink on a cool fall evening.

I like taking my 7 kids in for Pizza on Friday nights!! It's HILARIOUS when all the jaded loners get all pissed off and stomp there feet on the way out, actually acting like little kids.

sweetlou wrote a review on October 20, 2009 1:18 PM

I've been there a million times and the pizza is mediocore at best, I wish it were better. It is great for kids though, and if you want to avoid them just go after 9 when the little bar area can be fun and its a good place to have a beer and/or listen to free music

The Orange Blossom martinis here are really really good. Great brunch spot if you dont mind kids everywhere.

mevans74 wrote a review on October 20, 2009 1:28 PM

If you can elbow out the regular bar flies and grab a spot at the bar, they make a pretty decent Hurricane, which after several of them, you don't care about the kids running around!

Intergenerational segregation makes baby Jesus cry.

The sauce isn't as delicious and spicy as it is in Manhattan; I heard it was becuase of those pesky kids. Anyway, enough to spoil it for me.

henrycurtis wrote a review on October 20, 2009 1:42 PM

No reason to go if you don't have kids in tow. And even if you do, you'll be half-mad by the time you leave.

Tara in the Slope wrote a review on October 20, 2009 1:51 PM

Sweetlou, why do you keep going back a million times if you think the pizza is mediocre? There are other pizza places in the slope.

Just got to avoid the La Leche League meetings.

Yeah, why would anyone go without kids? I haven't been her since mine was about 7, even then she was too old for it.

CG_ups wrote a review on October 20, 2009 5:11 PM

if you hate kids, the one in manhattan is fine. 7th ave and perry street. not kid friendly at all.

This Two Boots is independent/different owners from the ones in the city.

Pretty much where the wild things are until after bed time. If you have kids the pizza makers will entertain them with balls of dough long enough for you to scarf down a beer or two. Thin crust pizza is pretty good and the service/wait staff have nerves of steel. I like the sweet potato fries. Ask to sit in the back room if you want a little bit more privacy. They play ball games on the bar TV.

grand army wrote a review on October 20, 2009 6:27 PM

Just go late. Kids do go to bed eventually. It's the same at Amorina on Vanderbilt, although there the pizza is much better than Two Boots and the kids are somehow better behaved.

Brenda from Flatbush wrote a review on October 21, 2009 12:03 AM

Ah, yes, fond memories of the child's stretchy-ball-of-dough distraction days. And don't forget the Pizza Face, demanded by the kiddies who then pick off all the "yucky" face-components (like black olives, eww!) Wouldn't go there now that the Child has graduated to yearning for pasta with smoked trout at Cafe Steinhof, but I seem to recall they took care of us well in their back room for her First Communion party.
