Lily Thai

"This Thai restaurant may share its name with a Hawaiian porn star, but the crisp interior doesn't play on it. Instead it showcases some of the traditional décor—a Buddha flanked by lotus and bicycle rickshaw photos—in a long room made brighter by light wood floors, squash-colored walls, and hibiscus-patterned cloth napkins," writes Karen Hudes for New York magazine.
Yelper Briana M. says, "On wintery days I like to order the spicy chicken noodle soup, with cellophane noodles. They have 3 noodles to choose from (broad rice and regular rice, along with cellophane). It's HOT HOT HOT and big enough to share (reluctantly)." A Free Williamsburg commenter adds, "Its a cozy neighborhood Thai place where you can get good food in a large portion for a GREAT price... I've only been a couple times and I had a nice experience each time." How would you rate Lily Thai?

I'd give her an 9 out of 10.

Great food, not so great atmosphere.
The BYOB makes up for that.

A long time ago some recommended a thai place on Grand - east of the BQE saying it was the best in the nabe. Is this the same place?

I may have recommended it in a previous thread.
Yes it is one of the best Thai in Williamsburg. The only thing I dislike is the music selection. Everything else is perfect!

The food here is really good. We had one of the whole fish dishes. Tasty! One note for lambretta posting above- if the main criteria for choosing the place is that it is BYOB, things have changed. The restaurant has been serving wine and beer for a while now.

This place is great, it has the best decor I've seen in any thai restaurant. The menu is extensive, Lily Thai somehow manages to put together top rate offerings while still remaining affordable. I will surely be back again!

I love this place! My husband and I order for LT at least once a week - more if I had my druthers! The quality of ingredients is superior to other local Thai spots we've tried. Favorites include the Pad Thai, Penang Curry and the Tamarind Duck is a decadent treat. Plus, if you are trying to be more healthy they actually offer BROWN RICE! You would be surprised the # of other places that literally laugh when you ask for it.
