"This Smith Street spot—born via a collaboration between the owners of Cobble Hill mainstays Stinky Brooklyn and Smith & Vine—fast became the neighborhood’s go-to cheese-and-wine-bar. A helpful staff effortlessly rattles off options for three-year old cheddars, and gives guidance on their 40 cheeses, organized by playful groupings like 'Soft and Stinky' and 'Firm, Old and Bold'," writes Kate Klonick for New York magazine.

"A massive, ornate bronzed mirror serves as the backdrop for a dark mahogany bar (equipped with an old-time cash register), which is complemented by exposed brick walls and brocade wallpaper," writes Amy Abate for Citysearch. Yelper Yvonne H. chimes in: "The drinks are seriously good -- we both had the Brooklyn Rumble -- rum, lime juice framboise, angostura bitters. And the food? Not just cheese! Real good pulled pork sandwich, house pickled beets and duck rillete." What's your take on the JakeWalk?

I like this place, though the last time I was there, I asked what was in the fondue, and the waitress said "cheese." When I said, "I know, but what KIND of cheese?" she looked very confused, and ran away. We ordered it anyway, and it was good.

I was pretty underwhelmed with my meal. For small plates, I will stick to Sample.

Jakewalk is a great place with a nice vibe. The cheese plates are cheaper and bigger portioned than Sample's. Since moving out of the nabe, I miss it.

i like jakewalk. good place for hearty eats and a glass of good wine. decent prices. service is typical brooklyn laid back, which is fine. i was actually really in the mood for steak one night, and checked allt he resaturants along smith street til i found one on the menu. jakewalk's steak is decent, it definitely hit the spot that night with a glass or two of a nice red wine. can't remember what my friend had but that got high marks as well, i think it was the mac and cheese? the cheese and meat plates are good. a nice in-the-middle kind of spot, not loud raucous or hectic, but not on the more formal expensive side, but a nice mellow in between.

Worst flight of wine I've ever had. I think that the wine was skunked...at least I hope. I ordered the Welsh Rabbit - soggy. The cheese plate was good.
The service was slow, and there was hardly anyone there. Not returning anytime soon.

Great place, the owners are the shiznit. Funny fella's. Great atmosphere and now that they have an outdoor it is probably the best place to drink on Smith Street. I highly recommend it, and they have cheap and expensive options so no one is priced out.
