Pete's Downtown

"Through the plate-glass windows at Pete’s, you can take in the looming bulk of the Brooklyn Bridge, the swirling waters of the East River and what Walt Whitman called the 'tall masts of Mannahatta.' Some of the superfilling traditional Italian food is swell, too," says Time Out New York.
"Traditional appetizers such as homemade mozzarella with roasted red peppers show more careful crafting than some of the entrees, which are dominated by veal and chicken dishes in tomato and white wine sauces. Pastas are cooked al dente, but their sauces are uniformly salty," writes New York magazine's Eric Wolff, who also mentions "the steadfast ownership of the Thristino family, who have run the restaurant since it opened in 1894."
"Roll in for a drink with friendly bartenders. Meet before going to the River Cafe. Skip the River Cafe and order the Mushroom Timbale - that's what I go for when I'm in town," says Yelper J.R. from Los Angeles. So, is Pete's Downtown mainly an alternative for tourists who don't have the patience for the Grimaldi's line or do locals like it, too? How would you rate it?

The food is good and the location is fabulous. They have a large space for parties/showers and valet parking for guests.

Love Pete's! Good basic hearty Italian food... nothing gourmet or pretentious! Great place to have a party, they are very accomodating.
