Ghang Thai Kitchen

When we mentioned yesterday that Smith Street's Ghang is opening an outpost on Court Street, boroughbred commented, "In my humble opinion, this is the best Thai food in the area. I waited the hour plus for a meal at JOYA to see what all the fuss was about and was very disappointed. The pumpkin curry at Ghang's is always perfect."
Chowhound korgy is a big fan, too: "I've eaten at Ghang probably somewhere around 75 times since they opened under that name, and I have never had a bad meal there... One of our favorite staples is the Tom Yum Noodle Soup (the entree, not the Tom Yum appetizer), listed under Noodle Soups. This is a very special dish. The Emerald Curry is also a favorite. If they have the soft-shell crab and papaya salad, this is great as well."
Yelper Trina R. says Ghang offers the "Best duck salad in the whole 'hood. Their delivery is fast and prices are reasonable. At first, I wasn't sure about their BYOB policy but then decided it was a great thing. No 'cork' fee and you can bring whatever you want and keeps the cost of the total meal down." Is Ghang as good as they say? And how would you rate it against other neighborhood Thai joints, like Em Thai?

Chance is the best Thai in the neighborhood. Missing from the list is 9-D which is on Court Street (further south than most of the places on this list). Never been to 9-D but it's always packed.

I've never been here. Excited to try it though.
As for Joya, I hate the atmosphere inside. It's more like a club than a restaurant. However, if you can get a seat in the garden out back, it's a lovely place.

For better or worse this place is our go-to thai delivery in the neighborhood. Nine-D probably has better food but their delivery service is horrible and the lady that answers the phone is consistently rude and/or incompetent.
I dunno about chance being the best in the neighborhood but they do make a nice/cheap fried rice and pad thai.
