Barberry is located in the old Zipi Zape space on North First and Berry, and it has the same chef and owner as the old tapas bar. "The tapas concept has been abandoned completely and replaced with a concept that favors large portions of fusion cuisine... One of the most popular dishes at Barberry is the selection of Argentinean meat for two, which features lamb chops, chorizo, ribs, sweetbreads and quail," says the Greenpoint Gazette.

"[Chef Diego] Gonzales’ grand Galician goodness gins up the grub, from filet mignon carpaccio and a fresh Portugese cod po’boy to hand-rolled canelones with bechamel," says Metromix. And Shecky's adds, "Signature dishes include grilled sardines, frisée salad with honey-roasted walnuts, and chocolate souflée—although the typical burgers, sandwiches, and steaks are also on the menu."

Yelper MAX E. reports on Barberry's brunch menu, which includes brioche French toast with cava sabayon: "Amazing portions, great quality, extremely reasonable prices. I have found my fave brunch spot." For night owls, Barberry serves a late dinner menu (including a chorizo sandwich, a burger, and a shirmp po' boy) from midnight to 3am on Fridays and Saturdays. What's your take on this place?

Used to go here often when it was Zipi Zape. Always loved that place. Have gone twice now that it has been transformed. Really liked it. The sardines where a highlight both times I went. the owners are very nice as well.

Nice ambient and friendly service. I just wish they had better wine.

Love love love bar berry. Was a fan of zipe zape too but am so much more in love with the reincarnation as bar berry. Food is spot on delicious. The fish dishes are something to brag about, esp considering that they get their fish from Blue Moon, the most amazing fisherman that serves NYC! The brunch is the best deal in Williamsburg. And the atmosphere is always so refreshing. If you eat out regularly in Williamsburg. bar berry should become one of your regular spots!
