Corner Burger

"A wide menu offers classic burgers (think a thick Midwest Bob's Big Boy burger) on toasted sesame seed buns, as well as a slew of house specialties like the indulgent Slope Burger piled with cheddar, bacon and homemade onion rings. The flat-top grilled patties weigh in at a hefty 7 ounces," says Metromix. Eating Brooklyn writes, "The burger was cooked perfectly; moist with a hint of pepper on the palate. My fries were delicious as well and it took all of my willpower in order to not eat them all."
And Coupla Guys Who Eat In Brooklyn sum it up: "The good: Tons of options for toppings including a good chipolte mayo sauce, several cheeses, avocado, jalapenos. The bad: you are not asked what temperature you would liked your burger cooked, which my speak to the quality of the meat." How would you rate this place?

Overpriced for what you get, but I'm glad to see something appearing to do relatively well in that spot.

It's got a fun, '50s-diner sort of vibe, but I found my food pretty mediocre. If you want a burger, it's a solid bet. If you want a burger that's going to blow you away, look elsewhere.
I was the only person sitting in the restaurant; it seemed like a lot of people used it as a carry out place.

I really like this place. It's an easy place to be with a magazine after a hard day at work when you don't feel like cooking anything. The guy waiter (I've only ever seen the one) is the nicest person ever. The burgers are good (I usually go for the Park Slope Burger w/ curly fries) and reasonably priced and go well with the ice cold beer they serve. And the bathroom is super duper clean! That may not be important to everyone, but to me and most other women I know, a nasty bathroom can be a total deal breaker regardless of the food quality.

I used to go to the burger dinner on 7th...but this place makes much better burgers. You can have the burger made exactly how you want it. I really like the place

Oh...forgot to mention that they always ask me how I want my burger cooked.

convenient location (for me) but food is mediocre at best...Flipsters on 7thav and 9th St is FAR superior and best burger in PS

does anyone in the whole wide world actually ask for the burger to be cooked to a particular temperature?
InsertSnappyNameHere wrote a review on August 10, 2009 1:17 PM
I've never asked for a particular temperature, but they are one of the few places who don't give me a hard time for asking for meat that's extremely very well done. I like leather on a bun and most places don't like to do it.

The burgers are pretty good but the sides (fries, sticks, rings etc...) are atrocious and yes there are places in the whole wide world that ask you how you want your burger done.... most places that make a good burger in fact. Perhaps you should try Bonnie's... the burgers are the best in Brooklyn aside from Luger's and the fries are out of this world.

I pretty much aagree with InsertSnappyNameHere .
Food is fine. I like Five Guys better in 7th Ave, but the location for me is better with Corner Burger.
The guy - is an awesome server. Better than some Bk or Manh expensive restaurants I have been. Never neglecting us even when the place is extremely busy. I have been there 3 or 4 times. He is the only one that I have experience so I can't speak for others.
Portion is good. Ambience is casual relaxed. Great for Saturday afternoon.
3 / 4 / 3 / about right

Oh yes, I forgot that the fries were pretty bad.
C'mon, this is a burger joint, the fries shouldn't suck!
dittoburg wrote a review on August 10, 2009 2:29 PM
SJ, thanks for completely missing my point.
But perhaps you didn't miss my point, in which case what temperature (farenheit/celsius/kelvin, I don't care) do you ask for?
infinitejester wrote a review on August 10, 2009 2:30 PM
This is a lunch-spot place, quickie-type place for locals.
But what I really want to say is: "Coupla Guys..." Jeez how many food blogs are there!!

I second: the nicest, nicest waiter ever. And they have decent salads.

Dittoburg, unless I am missing your point.... 'temperature' just mean rare, medium rare, well-done, etc. Asking the customer is the norm, for a thicker, non-fast food burger.
Kris wrote a review on August 10, 2009 6:13 PM
PS
The reason it's called Temperature is because each level of doneness corresponds to an actual temperature on a meat thermoneter.
dittoburg wrote a review on August 14, 2009 1:06 PM
yep, that's what people ask for - "how you want it cooked". noone asks for "what temperature". Doneness corresponds to temperature, but noone asks for, or is aksed for, temp. It also corresponds to the degree of meat protein denaturation, but they don't ask that either.

Awful burgers, dry buns, frozen fries...
Every time I walk by and see people in there I think "enjoy your crappy burger while Dram Shop and Five Guys are literally minutes away."
