12 Street Bar & Grill

"I feel like this place is a neighborhood secret. You won't hear anyone making a fuss, but it's a good friend that you know will come through in a pinch," says Yelper Robert P. "The name is somewhat of a misnomer, as the 'grill' portion is actually the small, elegant bistro on the corner with white tablecloths... The 'bar' portion next door (separate entrance) pulsates a little more with big crowds, darts and a good beer-on-tap selection," says Metromix.
"Since 1996, this bistro with a soaring tin ceiling has pulled in diners from surrounding brownstone Brooklyn... A crab-cake is toothsome and crunchy on the outside, enhanced by cilantro aioli and chunky guacamole. Puffy cumin-dusted sea scallops dressed in pomegranate citrus sauce are tangy, not too sweet, and lovely on the plate," writes Liz Zack for New York magazine.
And the meat lovers at Time Out New York add, "Short-rib pie is a gorgeous creation of shredded long-cooked beef with pearl onions and carrots ringed with flaky puff pastry. A meaty, slow-braised lamb shank comes with a fried polenta cake." How would you rate 12th Street Bar & Grill?

The food is pretty good at this joint, but it's a bit pricey. The brunch is good, but they don't open until 11 and it's a small place so it fills up fast. Also, there have been times when my wife and I have stood at the door waiting to be seated and we're essentially ignored for 10 minutes--that might fly in a big place but not here where the person ignoring you is five feet away. Sometimes the service is friendly, but there can definitely be an attitude.

Had a rather nice brunch there once. Good, but not good enough to lure me back when there are so many other (less expensive) options in the Slope.

It's the worst secret ever. The last time I tried to get a table there, they told me it was a 90 minute wait.
Great looking place. Would love to try the food.

We used to go there a lot. The food is always decent, and we've found the service to be friendly enough, but the menu never changes. We got bored with it.
The space itself is totally charming though. And their burger is tasty and a good deal.

This place is very reliable and I've never had to wait too long for a table. The menu is nothing exciting, but it's solid. Service is usually friendly and efficient. It's a little cramped, but the atmosphere is nice, especially by the windows.

Eaten here twice in the winter, very solid American Fare with a little italian and french flair! Amazing meat dishes! It is a little pricey but it also is a little more upscale than a lot of the slope restaurants

I like he bar. It's a little understaffed when busy, but nice place, nice people, nice taps and better-than-nice burger.

Always good enough food, though not exceptional, and I love the atmosphere. The menu's red meat stands out for me (hanger steak and the burger); fish can be so-so. Agree that the menu could use some seasonal updates because it does get very same-y.
