"Bare lightbulbs and metal ceiling fans hang over a long bar, where youngish locals watch sports and sitcom reruns. Dark-wood wainscoting and plain wooden booths seat the dinner crowd," writes Laurel A. Fantauzzo for New York magazine. Time Out New York recommends visiting Sidecar for an expertly poured classic cocktail: "The Ramos Gin Fizz—a gin, cream, lemon and egg-white New Orleans standard—arrived whipped to perfection, crowned with a hint of orange flower water."

As for eats, their "gussied-up bahn-mi" gets a thumbs up from the Village Voice: "Sidecar’s version piles caramelized pork, chicken liver paté, pickled carrots and daikon on a mayo-slathered, grilled ciabatta roll. It’s not going to put Ba Xuyen out of business, but it’s pretty damn delicious. Other worthy diversions here include that same chicken liver paté spread thickly on crostini, brandade (salt cod whipped with potato and cream) and pristine (but pricey) oysters." What's your take on this place?

The Ramos Fizz is the best freakin cocktail on the planet. Tastes like a creamsicle milk shake - but with gin. Kinda jealous south slope peeps can get one in their nabe and I can't

Love the steak frites (sp?), friendly service, but it's way too loud in there. Between the booming system and people shouting to hear each other, you can barely think.

It is SOOO GOOD, dh.

Love sidecar. The Bahn Mi on steroids is pretty darn good, I have to say.

Love the space too.

Pricey, but great bar and nice staff. Veggie tacos were great, albeit a wee small. Great tequila collection.

Finally made it there last weekend. The buttermilk fried chicken really hit the spot. Cute little outdoor space in back as well. Excellent service.

I meant to give it a "4" for service...

Great food and cocktails, but extremely loud!

It's a perfect spot for afterwork cool-down...

love Sidecar! This is one of those places where I can sit at the bar by myself and not feel uncomfortable. The service is very friendly and the food is great. One time the bartender made me dirty martinis with Hendricks gin which were very yummy. They were so good I'm surprised I can remember that actually.

"A slow gin fizz goes mighty fast/ When you drink it by the pitcher and not by the glass." That's a song by Loretta Lynn and Jack White, and it speaks the truth. Order at your own peril. It's the devil and it's delicious. As for the food, it's a little fancy for my taste but plenty tasty regardless.

didn't like the burger i had there after I heard great reviews. the other food looked a lot better. the burger seemed to be from a patty and when I'm looking for a good burger, a patty just won't do.

Ate there a long time ago, likely when they first opened. Had excellent fried chicken!

Gotta third the fried chicken. So, so good. Also love the veggie tacos, though their meat stuff is so good it feels wrong to eat those.

Can't comment on the noise because I've only gone there on weekdays. Didn't seem too noisy to me, though.

You can find me there just about every Sunday. Super tasty brunch (though wish they had drink specials for it), excellent service, beautiful surroundings. Love this place!

This place is a few blocks from my house and I've given it a chance on numerous occasions. The menu has some great hits and some horrible misses, but service is always horrible.

Staff has an attitude that you should be lucky they are serving you. If you can find someone to wait on you (this includes sitting at the bar!!!) its like they were doing you a favor. At brunch a few weeks ago I ordered a megas dish of eggs and tortillas which was served without most of the ingrediants! When we pointed this out to the server her shrugged.

Great eponymous cocktail & amazing seafood salad. Great ambiance, service and food. For photos, check out my blog: eatbrooklynfood.blogspot.com

Excellent combination: late night dining, eating at the bar with excellent bartenders, best fried chicken in Brooklyn, oysters, cocktail-o-rama. Brunch menu rocks. Agree with the volume issue inside, but heck, if that's the only issue to have, I can live with that.

I went there when they first opened (but the kitchen wasn't). The bartender (owner) made a sloppy-joe for me and my friends. Great space, nice vibe, gotta go back and try the cuisine.
