Building on Bond

"The sunlight comes in through the huge windows and floods the two big rooms BOB occupies. Being filled with remnants from old businesses (metal shelving, card catalog-looking pieces and even old time-card units) lends an old-timey feeling," writes Eat It. "The roomy café-by-day/bar-by-night boasts coffee and espresso from free-trade purveyor Grounds for Change, a full bar, and Stella, Guinness and more on tap... For local laptop fiends, 'campout Wi-Fi' is available all day," adds Metromix.
"As [a restaurant], BoB is getting better all the time--the pork sandwich on pretzel bread is really a destination sandwich now--and just introduced a respectable brunch menu. As a bar, it is also growing, with a nice cocktail list and events like readings, bingo, and neighborhood gatherings to compliment the wine and beer," writes Yelper Rach S.
The Brooklyn Paper's Gersh Kuntzman is a fan of Building on Bond's burger: "Yes, it’s a humble hamburger, but this architecture-themed restaurant tosses chorizo into the mix, giving the resulting patty a smokey, juicy transcendence. Add a bit of gruyere and pile it on a buttery brioche and the result is a three-napkin classic." How would you rate Building on Bond?

this place is a good example of how a place tucked away off a main street can seemingly do well. very nice interior, good coffee, nice folks, and booze. havent eaten there since they started a menu, but if their pulled pork sandwiches served during atlantic antic are any indication (their stall was mobbed), they'll have an upward trajectory. good job all around.

I can't say much for the food, but I must say that the storefront isn't half bad, considering it was probably done with a tight budget. Painting the brick that greenish hue was risky, but it looks like they avoided the vomit-shades, which tend to not help the appetite...

Great vibe. Burger is not special, but the veggie burger is quite good. So is the cubano. Nice place to hang out for a lazy meal or coffee or a pint. Decor is fun.

Really like BoB. Never tried the food aside from cheese plate, but as the others have said the vibe and interior is fun. Good wine and tap list. Only very minor complaint would be that service is on the slowish side. Great for early summer evening drinks. Recommended!

Was more amused than impressed by the faux 'semi-industrial' vibe made of recent dollar store items that had been artificially 'aged' to make the place look like it had been around for years.
Friendly wait staff, but the VU chicken wings app looked better on the menu than on my plate and my Cubano was nothing special. Wife had BBQ Pork sandwich that was a sightly better.
Good, but not great, and almost reasonably priced ($8 - $9 sandwiches) for what it is.
Would go back, but would not go out of my way to do so.

I've been once for drinks and dinner with friends after work, and once for brunch on Sunday. Both were great experiences. I had the bbq sandwich on Almondine's pretzel bread and the wings appetizer, and those were both fantastic! So was this minty, limey drink we had! So good! At brunch, i had the bbq eggs benedict, which was great, but my husband ordered a simple breakfast sandwich and it was mediocre, at best.
I love the atmosphere here. They really did a great job with the decor.

Never been there, but the style of the exterior is really great.
