Kotobuki Bistro

"This spacious restaurant mixes modern sushi bar decor with bistro touches like dark wood, exposed brick and stainless steel fans. An analog clock is projected on one wall and diners can enjoy the sunshine in the wood-decked back garden," writes Justin Hartung for Citysearch. "Kotobuki's spider roll was fresh and tasted just like the soft shell crab it was made out of. No gloopy mayo dressing smothering the meat, just big pieces of crab rolled up with cucumber, lettuce, and smelt roe," writes Eat It: The Brooklyn Food Blog.
Chowhound oolah says, "Kotobuki, is ok, but nothing to write home about." But fellow 'Hound puppimus says, "Kotobuki has never let me down -- try the fried softshell crab and greens salad with carrot dressing." What's your take on this place?

Kotobuki is one of my family's favorite restaurants because it is a reliably good value and it is always easy to get a table.

I've never tried this place, but the combination of Japanese and Thai food seems odd (even though Japan and Thailand were allies during WW II).

The food is good, but not special. Yet I find myself there a lot because the outdoor deck is nice in warm weather, the people welcoming, and you can get a table even on a Saturday night. I just don't have the energy to deal with Osaka or Ki when there is a line.
