Bushbaby

Bushbaby, a Bed-Stuy cafe, was recommended to us by PISMO. The shop offers house-brewed sweet tea and spiced hot cocoa, as well as a selection of wraps that come stuffed with Halal chicken, fish, or vegan "meat." Olivia Lane on SuperVegan says, "I love the spicy Moroccan Chicken [and] the many vegan brunch options, which includes vegan French Toast--what, what! The staff is superfriendly and attentive, although the service is anything but quick. Don't go here if you're in a rush and you'll be a happy camper."
Yelper Ben S. says that Bushbaby has "one of the best chai lattes I've ever had. The tea is brewed when you order so it's not the quickest but that's what makes the difference. They also have a good selection of healthy snacks like dried fruits and nuts." However, Chowhound dr. katz is not a fan of Bushbaby: "Some people like it, but I have had too many frustrating experiences to endorse it. (And the coffee is weak!)" How would you rate this place?

I totally agree with Ben S. about the chai lattes. I would add that this is an ideal cafe: you walk in, have a chat with the person behind the counter, and either pick up something to go or sit and watch people pass by on Fulton St.

I'm with Olivia. Love their vegan choices! True the service is slow and they don't always open on time. But...they ARE nice. Just kinda laid back.

Love the vegan choices (and hubby likes the other stuff). The jazz brunch. The friendly staff. The prices. The staff can be a bit slow BUT its a wonderful thing to sit in a nice space on a Sunday with the paper and not feel rushed.

I work a few blocks away, which is just a bit too far to take advantage of them on a daily basis but, when I have the chance, they're just wonderful. They take their time, but they put so much care into each and every drink they serve you. The chocolate masala is fantastic. I think I may even have one today.
Sandwiches are very yummy but, yes, painfully slow. If they weren't so nice there, it'd be a problem.
Very highly recommended.
