Roebling Tea Room

"Don’t let the name fool you. Roebling Tea Room serves much more than tea. There is a brunch, daytime and dinner menu, and inventive drink concoctions like the rosemary hot toddy... And if you’re tired of the ubiquitous Bloody Marys and mimosas, Roebling provides more interesting items like 'Grog Galois'—a unique mix of honey mead, lemon, and soda," says offManhattan.
"Once an industrial space, this high-ceilinged room now feels more like a social club, with its creamy wainscoting, low lighting, and small tables clustered around a central bar. By day, the neighborhood freelance brigade settles in with laptops and books; at night, twentysomethings slide into the benches to share stories and plates of slightly old-fashioned comfort food," writes Jennifer Paull for New York magazine.
"By light years, the best brunch of any place I've ever been too. Salt-cod fritters, beat hash, pan seared rainbow trout and eggs. Yum," writes Yelper Bobby A. Our own dirty hipster is a Roebling Tea Room fan, too. What's your take on this place?

Decent, but not stellar, food. A nice room. Spotty service. Completely overpriced.
I went here a few times and probably wouldn't go back. There are too many other better options in town.

It's probably my favorite restaurant anywhere, except when it's crowded. Love the vast beer and tea selection, mac and cheese, brauts and salad. Maybe the food isn't ground-breaking, but it's pretty damn good and the ambiance is terrific. Also, a great place to take a baby and just hang out for a few hours on one of the comfy couches. I don't think it's overpriced at all, and I am cheap.

I really like going here - but Bobby is pretty accurate in his assessment.
Food is okay but expensive (dinner) Brunch isn't a bad value - service is okay - but don't expect anyone to be pleasant - just varying degrees of attentiveness.
I guess I just like the feel of the space, and never feel rushed by the servers in turning over our table, which makes for a relaxed Sunday brunch with friends.

This is a very beautiful space day or night. Even the paint is special.
It's a magical place to take out-of-town visitors for drinks and dessert on summer nights. I was disappointed when I ate there for breakfast, as it seemed expensive and not that good. I've never tried dinner.

i think it has a great feel. like the food. didn't consider it overpriced, but i will re-valuate.
honestly, i've tried to go more often, but it's usually very crowded, so i can't get in. they must be doing something right i guess.
i'm not going to rate this because i've only been 2x.
did go to rye - fantastic food. get the duck. perfect. good wine by the glass choices too. if you get the duck, get the ny state pinot.

this place is fine, but nothing special, and a bit expensive. i don't think anything makes this place stand out from any of the other options for coffee/food/drink in this section of williamsburg.

Love this place. Food isn't going to win awards, but it's consistently good and well priced. Good vibe, and my experience with the service has been nothing but positive. Perhaps people are intimidated with the level of attractiveness of the staff and hence take out their low self-esteem and supposive ugly aggression out on them? Just a thought.
Oh, and please don't "take baby" (or use that phrase, that is exactly why I had to leave south brooklyn) to restaurants, maybe that's why you're service sucked, because your child's presence degraded everyone elses time their. (i'm not bitter*)
*I don't blame the kids, I blame the parents. Ok I blame the kids too.

I live nearby and used to practically live there, because I loved the food and the ambiance. RTR was great for many purposes--a solo dinner of soup at the bar, a romantic dinner, brunch with friends, lunch with someone from the city--but I finally grew tired of the truly truly agonizingly awful service and had to give it up. I put years into you, RTR! But you did me wrong one too many times.

The Service should not be called that because they don't do anything. All three times I have gone my party was completely ignored for long stretches of time. The place is also WAY too dark in many areas. The food is OK. Brunch stuff doesn't do much, just gets the job done.
