Cafe Enduro

Cafe%20Enduro.jpg
"Prospect-Lefferts Gardens locals favor this colorful cantina as a place to escape the Q-train clamor and chat over well-mixed $5 margaritas and generous quesadillas. Orange and red lanterns and year-round Christmas lights illuminate a lively bar scene, while young families and their middle-aged neighbors tuck into more substantial offerings," writes Nicole LaRosa for New York magazine.

"In a neighborhood big on takeout places, Cafe Enduro fills the void for a comfortable, casual eatery. It’s never going to be a destination," writes Tina Barry for the Brooklyn Paper. And Yelper Antik R. says, "I love Mexican food, and it doesn't take a lot to please me, but most of the stuff here is pretty bland. I got the red chile beef quesadilla while my friend got the cheese quesadilla. They both definitely needed a lot to spice them up."

But local blogger Julie and the City is a big fan of Cafe Enduro's brunch: "I was there at 1:30 p.m. on a Sunday for brunch and got a table right away, a feat that would have been impossible in the Slope or the Village. The prices also reflected that we weren’t in Park Slope anymore. The average price for a brunch entree, not including coffee, was $9. I tucked into a generous portion of the fluffiest French toast I’ve sampled in ages." What's your take on this place?

Enduro is the BEST!! I get their nachos for 7 bucks and it EASILY feeds 2. Their pomegranate margaritas and blood orange mimosas are to die for. The waitstaff is amazing and this place is a true neighborhood hang out for some of us! To each his own

So the food isn't always stellar, but recent (as in maybe six months ago already) menu changes have improved things, and they have hamburgers at last, which are actually pretty good. And the kitchen understands that there is a difference between rare and medium-rare, thank goodness. Lots of vegetarian options too! And of course the drinks are superb, and all the staff is adorable -- special shout-outs to Dan, Lawrence, Linda, Karl (who may have crossed to the "other side" as in Whiskey Sunday's) at the bar and all the wait staff. It's just great to have a comfortable, welcoming, and reasonably-priced option close to home.

The food is fine, not terrible not brilliant. Good margaritas. My biggest praise is for the place itself. Staff that knows its regulars, warm fun atmosphere, diverse patrons who strike up conversations with each other at the bar. The one upside to having few sit-down places to eat in PLG is that we see somebody we know from the 'hood every time we go to Enduro or Whiskey Sundays. Very "Cheers"-esque in that way.

Very true -- I've lived in so many neighborhoods throughout NYC and I have to say that in PLG, with Enduro as a meeting spot, I feel such a neighborhood feel. I actually strike up conversation with fellow diners and everybody is so receptive. It's so hard to rate Enduro only on their food because the place is much more than just food... it's great people, and oh, forgot to mention, yummy Churros!

This is one of my favorite restaurants [NOT just my favorite in PLG, which would be faint praise]. Great food, drinks and service AND,as two previous reviewers noted, a great place to meet your neighbors (including the wait staff, many of whom live in the neighborhood).

Whenever I leave this place after a meal I marvel that I'm on Lincoln Road.

Enduro is a great place to just hang out...and sip on margaritas, of course. As for the food, stick with what you really like. The service is professional and if you really want the scoop visit Linda and Dan at the bar for up-to-the-minute happenings.

Enduro lies at the foot of the Lincoln Rd B stop like a reliable old hound, welcoming home wayward PLGrs with familiar ease. But like any old dog who has long ago had his day, it sometimes gets confused and shits on the floor. I challenge anyone to eat the taco salad in this place. Seriously, I dare you. Stick with the burritos, tacos and beer.

This is a great spot to throw a going away party for your black friend who is being forced out of the neighborhood.
