Baci & Abbracci

Baci & Abbracci was recommended to us by mopar, and Nancy Davidson for New York magazine says, "Patrons of this casual, low-fanfare eatery can bank on a warm welcome, if not the kisses and hugs promised in the restaurant’s name. The decor is inviting, too, with rustic tables, a wood-burning pizza oven, marble countertops, and Italian tilework."
"This wonderful Italian restaurant extends our pasta frontiers by making gnocchi with polenta, rather than the usual potatoes, semolina, or bread crumbs, then saturates them with a scrumptious rabbit ragu, shot with black peppercorns like punctuation in a lengthy paragraph. The beet-dyed potato gnocchi called violette di parma are similarly excellent," says the Village Voice.
Chowhound malibu adds, "It's not the 'hippest' place in the neighborhood, but their food is consistently very good (great pizzas), an unpretentious affordable wine list and great service. The guys that run the place are nice too, which I like. There's usually not a wait and it is very low key." And Liz Zack for Citysearch says, "Dessert doesn't disappoint: The torta della nonna with custard, chocolate and pistachios strikes the perfect balance of light and crunchy." How would you rate this place?

great backyard. really good food. place is way underrated. it's modern on the inside in a non-williamsburg way. real italian guys run the joint. they bring my kid crayons. there are always modern italian families there all the time which is a great sign. it feels like more of a european place where families and children are welcome along with singles and everybody is sorta of cool without trying to hard.
have had brunch here more than any other place in my whole life because the service is so good along with the food, and you don't have to wait. the brunch menu includes terrific italian dishes and sandwiches and pizzas plus good brunch staples. it's the kind of place where you can get a pizza as an appetizer and order an italian beer for lunch while you wait for the rest of your food.
if you live in the burg and don't want to wait an hour to eat at the Lodge, walk down grand and have a wonderful brunch here.
oh, and it can be quite romantic in the backyard at night in the summer.

The food here is consistently great. I often get delivery from here and love it. The back yard is very nice in the summer time. I highly recommend this place.

Wine lover is pretty spot on. Great pizza - pasta dishes are always fresh. Fish cooked correctly. Fantastic service

Chef is lovely and makes his own bread. Nice back yard, very good food, great service. Its one of the most underrated restaurants in Williamsburg.

For a place that offers brunch (the bane of restauranteering), B&A is pretty damn good, maybe my fave Williamsburg Italian since Cono's Pizza (whose cooking was superb) on Graham bit the dust. For those rightly wary of "new" Williamsburg, it's worth the trip. On a scale of 1 to 10... a solid 8.

Have to agree with all the comments that this restaurant is way underrated. Salads, bread, pizza, and pasta are wonderful, just like in Italy. (Entrees can be disappointing, so we stick to the aforementioned.) Also a full bar with fresh fruit cocktails. Garden in summer. (That's why the place looks empty in summer -- everyone's in the back.) Indeed, very romantic at night, yet casual, lovely white wine, and a great brunch. Love the egg-bacon pizza for brunch. Very authentic, and the staff is very welcoming. Moderately priced. And no wait. What's not to love?

Their brunch is perfect and very fairly priced. No wait like the Lodge. Kid friendly.

Fabulous. Like it more than Aurora. Kid-friendly. Good value. I miss living close to this place.

Wine Lover said it best. It's exactly all those things. I don't agree with Mopar about the pastas though. Mopar, try the beet gnocci. It's one of my favorite things to eat in the neighborhood. Also, Baci does great delivery- fast and everything is hot. Even the calamari remains crisp. Love love love Baci.

Nothing special happening here. Nice joint. Friendly service. Decent food. Mediocrity rules.
