My Moon

"My Moon is no doubt the city’s most beautiful Turkish restaurant: It’s a stunner on an otherwise industrial block, carved from an old water-boiler warehouse," says Time Out New York. "The food’s not the draw at this festive, 250-seat neighborhood haunt, where architecture takes pride of place. Set in a converted factory, My Moon retains the original space’s sky-high ceilings and exposed-wood beams, then tucks its booths into authentic boilers that solidify its organic, industrial chic," writes Danyelle Freeman for New York magazine.
"The menu offers mainstays of Turkish cuisine: hot and cold mezes such as hummus, grilled octopus and crab wrapped into cigar-shaped dough, and entrees like chicken kebabs, lamb chops, and snapper with snow peas, carrots and clams," writes Citysearch's Justin Hartung. But Chowhound The Turtle Bay Dove says, "I only went once, last summer, but it was a nice space w/really terrible food. Seriously. Not just blah - terrible." Fellow 'Hound sushiman argues, "I ate there last night. It was good. The menu has changed a little. Less emphasis on exotic Turkish fare. The food is more accessible and the prices are not high." What's your take on this place?

place is gorgeous. best outdoor area in new york city. great for drinks after work because of this. pic doesn't do it justice. people get married/have receptions here. good for big groups of any kind, like a birthday party.
if you go, stick with the turkish food, especially the lamb which is very good and reliable. nice wine list.

My block - North 10th represent!!
I pretty much agree with Wine Lover, the lamb is consistently great but I feel everything else is pretty inconsistent (not bad, just not good enough to warrant the prices) That said, I still love coming here as it's always a great time
That said, I had a big urge to go here on Saturday night as it was so freakin nice outside, and the outdoor seating area is probably the nicest there is. Great place to chill outside with a bottle of wine and a cheese plate. Service is nice and laid back. They don't really mind if you linger.
One of the above reviews says they have changed the menu and it's less expensive. If so, that is definitely good to know, as I'll probably go again sooner then later.

Very very very impressive decor (rare 5 star). The complimentary olive temenade(?) and bread are off the chain as everything else (haven't been in a while, can't remember what I had but remember that the taste was illmatic). Spare ribs mmmmm. That's it! Between now and this weekend, I'm going.
