Mura

Mura, recommended by our own SnarkSlope, gets another thumbs up from Metromix for its backyard patio: "When you step through Mura's long, dark corridor and out into the back, you'll be able to chomp on your yellowtails, seafood hibachi and chicken teriyaki in a cool, breezy space."
Yelper mary s. adds, "mura is yet another japanese restaurant in park slope, it's true, but the food is consistently good, especially the bento boxes. the teriyaki salmon was perfectly cooked, and served over a bed of steamed veggies, a very nice touch... and this is one of the few places here in park slope where there is plenty of room for a stroller!"
Chowhound Brooklyn Hound says Mura has "good Japanese food and the staff is really great." And fellow 'Hound Alisonleslie enjoyed her meal there, too: "Everything was fresh and well prepared (the tempura had clearly been fried to order and was grease-less). It's no Taro, but it's infinitely better than Kiku and probably a step or so above Yamato." How would you rate this place?

I agree with may s., the Bento boxes are the way to go. Great miso soup to start, and they do a tasty tempura. Mura is a pleasant space, and they have a nice backyard.
Actually, I tried to go there this past Saturday night, but the backyard was full (as was nearly every other restaurant garden on 5th Avenue). We ended up at Nana, which has a large yard, and is tasty and affordable.

Love Mura - service is always prompt and friendly. The back garden is nice in the summer. Sushi itself is very good. We tend to stick with rolls plus they had the odd chef special here and there which have been great when we've tried them.

Come on. This is another Chinese restaurant serving a poor imitation of Japanese food. The only good Japanese restaurant in the Slope is Tamari.

I'll have to try Tamari. I've sort of lumped it in there with all the rest of the Japanese places that sprouted on 5th in the past year or two.
Do restaurants always arrive in waves? Now it seems that a new flood of Italian places are cropping up: Bar Tano, Aperativo, Alta Voce, and that one that replaced Cocotte spring to mind.

We like it, have eaten there a number of times. Having said that, we usually stick to cooked items. The sushi didn't impress. Service is very nice, quick, and polite.

Ate at Mura once...it was ok, but I think that (besides Blue Ribbon) Oshima is the best sushi in Park Slope.
Absolutely love it.

Better than Yamato. I just wish they'd lose the TV.

Fresh delicious sushi in the slope. Not as fancy as Oshima but Oshima is quite expensive.
