Lodge was recommended to us by Eat It: The Brooklyn Food Blog, who writes: "When you walk into Lodge, you feel as though you've been transported to an Inn in Upstate New York." Karen Hudes for Citysearch says, "Stonework walls, tree-stump lounge tables and a local artist's lighting fixtures (in the shape of antlers) merge elements of trucker-hat sensibility and apres-ski style at this Williamsburg corner spot. The bar area, with a couple of shag-rugged nooks, makes the room comfortable for a drink."

New York magazine's Timothy Cooper is a fan of Lodge's stick-to-your-ribs fare: "Dishes change slightly daily, based on greenmarket offerings. Buttermilk garden salad, beer-battered onion rings, Yukon gold fries, and doughy apple cheddar fitters are slices of the American West... Fried chicken is a model of what fried chicken should be, with thick battered skin and succulent, plentiful meat, offset by bitter kale and garlic mashed potatoes, both drenched in butter"

Gastronormous says, "We had an artichoke dip that was possibly the best i have ever had. It wasn’t too mayonnaise-y or liquidy, but very thick and chunky... everyone at the table loved it. Unfortunately much of the rest of the food was not as winsome as the appetizer." Time Out New York was disappointed, too: "The chicken and dumplings were a bland contrast of mushy and mushier, and the apple-cheddar fritters came with a far-from-delicate, oily shell." How would you rate this place?

Pretty cool spot - I only really go for the burger, which is good. My friend got the bison stroganoff once and said it was pretty awesome. Their bourbon selection is really good - and they have Black Label beer in a can for 3 bucks!

Haven't gone in a while, since walter crackfoods opened up a block away though.

Eaten here a few times. Good food and the service has always been alright. I don't know if they still do it, but I went for a Tuesday night (or was it wednesday?) lobster special. Came with a whole lobster, corn, and a starch for just under 25 bucks if I remember right. I was very satisfied that night. Overall, nice place to grab a bite.

Only went once- had meatloaf and smashies. Was underwhelmed with the meatloaf itself and the potatoes were dry- like they had been sitting around too long.
Can do better at home for cheap so haven't returned.
Nice looking place though.

The only thing I found palatable here were the phenomenal beer-battered onion rings, which come with homemade dipping sauces. It's perfect with a cold beer and the windows open. I've been pretty underwhelmed by everything else they've served, and the service is maddeningly slow and spotty.

I really like the ambiance in here, but that's about it. The food is so inconsistent (meats at the wrong temperature, raw fish that should be cooked etc). The specials are always astronomically priced and just flat out bad. Don't get me started on the service. I stopped going here about a year and a half ago after numerous bad experiences. So many great places in the hood to eat now, this one pales in comparison.

Great ambiance, and it's nice that they're open for lunch. That said, I hate the food -- sandwiches next door at their a-little-too-precious offshoot are much better than their menu. I have actually often wondered why they're so popular since the eating is so dismal -- Roebling Tea House, in much the same genre does a much better job. Servers are nice, but sort of Williamsburg clueless. The owners are very nice however, so points for that... I never had the heart to ask them why they couldn't make better food.

not a foody place, but great atmosphere for sure. always crowded. personally, think that brunch down the road on grand at baci and abbracci is way better, and it's usually not crowded. also, baci as a terrific backyard.
