Sheep Station

"Sheep Station, a spacious Australian pub, is a welcome option, with its pressed-tin walls, friendly atmosphere, and extensive wine and beer list. We can recommend everything on the menu, but the shearer’s burger is king---a juicy patty capped, in Australian style, with beets, pineapple and a fried egg," says Gayot.
But Peter Meehan for the New York Times has a different opinion: "The place’s meat pies — those distinctly Australian savory pastries ($6), stuffed with a fatty mix of minced beef and onions, moistened with stock — were the best I’d ever had. They were definitely cravable. But the burger ($10) wasn’t. The roasted beets, the raw pineapple, the fried egg and more that were loaded on it couldn’t hide the underwhelming patty at its center."
Meanwhile, the Village Voice says, "Anything made of lamb rocks, including a wonderful sandwich layering thick slices of meat with arugula and tomato. The lamb chops are a good bet, too; even the accompanying minty peas are memorable." How would you rate this place?

The first time I bit into the lamb sandwich there, I felt a little stirring in my shorts. The second time it was still quite good, but I knew what to expect so I was free to stand up if I wanted to.
And it's a good place to get drunk - in my experience.

I can't say enough about this place. Really comfortable atmosphere and good food. All you can eat mussels on Wednesdays. Great chook (chicken) and lamb sandwiches. Good wine and beer too. Nice neighborhood place.

Love the sheep station. One of my favourite places in the slope area. Great for afternoon beers and the food is decent if not spectacular. Big fan of the meat pies but perhaps this is more of an English / Aussie thing. Growing up these were a staple part of our diet ! The beers are decent, I'm a big fan of Coopers. Believe the back bar area can be used seperately for parties.

I love this place! Great beers, friendly staff, and good food. I am somewhat addicted to the steak sandwich. I also like the curry vegetable pie (basically a veggie pot pie with a light curry seasoning) and the burger. The atmosphere/decor is awesome, too.

I've not tried the food, but the time I went with my friends for drinks, the atmosphere was great, the bartender was friendly, and the cocktails were heavily poured. Prices seemed reasonable, too. That's good enough for me! Once it warms up and I feel like walking a bit, I'll be headed back.

I love sheep station. Great food, great beer and a good feel. I like that it feels good in both the summer and cozy in winter, and its good to be able to eat in the bar or the quieter back room. Great place.
