When we ran a post on Amin Indian, many commenters agreed that better Indian fare could be found at Kinara, which has locations on Myrtle Avenue in Clinton Hill and on 5th Avenue in Park Slope (pictured above). New York magazine's Carey Meyers is a Kinara fan, too: "the kitchen is not afraid of spice, flavors are vibrant and well-balanced, and a noticeable but appropriate amount of heat enlivens many dishes... In addition to crowd-pleasing Northern Indian favorites, Kinara's offers Goan fish curries, from southwestern India, that may just be the best dishes on the menu."

Clinton Hill Foodie likes the Myrtle Avenue location: "The deal they have for one appetizer and one entree along with nan for $11.95 is a pretty good value. Last night we had the chicken curry, chicken masala entrees with the chicken mali kebab and pakoras appetizers... Neither the curry or tikka masala disappointed, and I can now heartily recommend both along with the vindaloo I ordered last time."

And Chowhound rootytootyfreshnfrooty has good things to say about the Park Slope branch: "Had a great lunch, and the menu is 50 percent off at that time. Baluchi's also does a half off eat-in lunch, and I noticed the menus at both places are fairly similar. Kinara had a more homemade taste and i thought the dishes were more delicate. Both places have Kachori and Aloo Papri... both slamming at Kinara." What's your take?

Best Indian in Clinton Hill.

The Fifth Avenue location is rather mediocre.

I recommend spending a few more bucks at Baluchi's.

Clinton Hill location is great. Best indian I have had in Brookyn. Strictly a delivery option for me but I highly recommend for quality and price.

this is the best neighborhood Indian available. the food is actually seasoned well and very fresh, and the range of dishes, appetizers in particular, are authentic. to do better than this you have to go to one of the city's Indian enclaves. ambiance is no better or worse than comparable places, value is fine. the problem here (park slope location) is the service. they take Indian restaurant blasée to a whole new level. waiters answer cell phones, don't bring water, don't really answer questions, and it takes forever for the food to arrive, even when they're slow. go for the food, but go with patience or on your own and with a magazine.

We ordered delivery from them last week for the first time.
The food came quickly and was really good, nice flavors and spices.
Definitley will eat their food again.

I agree with everything posted above. Kinara is great and when we lived in Fort Greene we got takeout from them at least once a week.

The best Indian takeout in Slope, although yet to try recently opened Baluchi's.

I got takeout from Kinara on 5th Avenue just last night, which really isn't a big coincidence because I order there at least every couple of weeks. Food is good, vindaloo is spicy as all hell (good), and the takeout value is good-to-great -- $13 for an app and an entree with rice and naan. I tend to eat heartily and my leftovers from last night are going to make a pretty decent meal tonight.

Agree that service sucks. I have never actually had a sit-down meal there, and can't imagine ever wanting to based on how curt the employees are in the 30 seconds it takes me to pick up my sack of food when I call in ahead of time.

The first time I ordered from Kinara, the food arrived in under 10 minutes. Was piping hot, spicy and delicious. I've ordered a few more times since then and it never disappoints.

Kinara is the best and most reliable delivery food in Clinton Hill, period, and really good Indian, generally. Spicy, balanced, consistent, and friendly. Love this place.
