Anthony's

BlackBook calls Anthony's a "great date spot, with low light, brick walls, dropped tin ceiling." A Park Slope Parent says that "the service has always been friendly and polite and tolerant of the adventure that is eating in a restaurant with a young child." Chowhound cdj260 writes that Anthony's "won't win any NYC pizza wars, but [is] more than good enough for a neighborhood joint."
Slice rates pizza at Anthony's: "The remarkably light and airy crust exhibited a decent amount of charring and... had some chewiness to it, but was softer and more forgiving on the jaw than many other Neapolitan pies I've had lately. The sauce was noticeably fresh and mildly zesty and the mozzarella was creamy and pleasantly stringy. The overall cheese-sauce ratio was good."
Owner Sal Buglione hired his mother, Lina, to make the Sunday ragu, which the Brooklyn Paper recommends: "Ragu is a traditional Italian sauce made on Sundays and usually served as a late afternoon family meal. There’s a variety of different meats that cook slowly in the tomato sauce (Lina’s recipe includes meatballs, pork ribs and 'braciola') until they absorb the sweetness of the tomatoes and the meat becomes fall-off-the-bone tender... The sauce is poured over perfectly 'al dente' ziti." How would you rate this place?

Never had the sunday regu, and it sounds great. I've been several times though, always happy. This is not ambitious food. It's classic hearty Italian with surprisingly fresh seafood too on the menu. Pastas are reliable, pizza is excellent, apps like mushrooms and broc. rabe are hit or miss. Very kid friendly too. Not sure i agree with the date place though, more of a family vibe.

Very good neiborhood restaurant. Family friendly. Under-rated pizza. Very nice staff. The ragu is very good too.
Not a destination restaurant, but I sure am glad it's in my neiborhood.

One of my favorite places for ordering delivery, probably twice a month for the last couple of years...I love the wood-oven pizza they make - some char bubbles but still moist and chewy. The "Mother-in-law" salad is also great, as are the scallops.

We must have ordered all the duds on the menu. Went once; Husband had inedible mozzarella and tomatoes (flavorless and tough, and this was in the summer), overcooked, chewy fish; I had an overdressed salad, acceptable pasta and an anise-laced lemon cheesecake, which the waiter took off the bill when I gagged (I hate anise and it was not mentioned in the description). Service was just OK, atmosphere was nothing at all.

I really don't get this place and feel like I'm the only one. The pizza is ok, nothing better. Delivered, it's a bland soggy mess (a forgivable sin if it was fantastic in house, but I really think it's just eh). The pasta is fine. Boring. No better than what you'd get for take out from a slice shop. The ambience is miserable. It's a cute space, but there is always AWFUL music blaring. To the point where it's uncomfortable to have a conversation. Nothing about this place is terrible. I'm just never inclinced to spend my money here. Shame because it's very convenient.

We order take out several times a month, eat there as well. It's convenient to Prospect Park South. The food's good, the manicotti is the best I've had since eating at an old restaurant called the Terrace Club in Eastchester as a kid. We think this is good, old style Italian food. The staff is terrific.

A great go-to. Kid friendly, solid food, and while the service isn't impeccable, they try. Their salads are strong, and their pizza is thin-crust. Can't think of anyone who does thin-crust as well.

Okay, so the "tricolore" salad is not a "tricolore" salad at all. The stuffed mushrooms are small. The caesar salad has boxed croutons on top and the dressing's a little bland. That being said, we love Anthony's. I'm not sure exactly why - maybe it's because our prosciutto, mushroom and olive pie is always delicious and, at sixteen bucks or so, reasonable. The stuffed mushrooms, though small, are exactly what I'd make for us if I were making up a batch at home. The baked clams - also always on the small side - are a perfect little buttery bite. The sauteed spinach and garlic is always fresh, flavorful and completely satisfying. The waiters are friendly, the homemade lasagna special is to die for, and the room and the vibe are unpretentious and comfortable. We love Anthony's. It's nothing spectacular, but it's satisfying, reasonably priced, and a great neighborhood joint to go to on a Wednesday night when you want a glass of Chianti and an honest plate of good food. Feels to me like an authentic old school Italian restaurant with just enough modern touches to satisfy the newcomers to the neighborhood. And we are.

Is there a reason you omit the cross streets?
