Tini

Tini has closed up shop and the owners now operate Home/Made at 293 Van Brunt.
"Its single small room is probably the size of most Manhattan studios, but instead of cramming it with booths and tables, they devote one entire side to a large white couch... The other side is lined with minimalist metal tables," writes Nick Kindelsperger for Gothamist of this Red Hook wine bar and cafe.
"The food is simple but very worthwhile, running from cheese and paté plates to thick toasts topped with Gorgonzola, figs, and honey to a fantastic caramelized-onion ham tart," writes Sarah DiGregorio for the Village Voice. And Metromix adds, "Most of the dishes are made from locally grown produce (from neighboring Added Value-Red Hook Farm) and the eggs in your brunch come from nice local hens." Tini's locally sourced brunch gets a thumbs up from Chowhound MShapiro: "Our food was good; three of us had egg dishes and they were all very tasty, w/ home made potatoes and grilled toast and not tini portions at all."
It's also worth mentioning Shecky's recent report that "Leisah Swenson and Monica Byrne, the owners of Tini, are converting their furniture shop Home/Made into a furniture-shop-cum-restaurant, and they joke that someone will be able to buy your chair out from under you." How would you rate this place?

This is a great little place. The food is high quality and it is a good place to have a small meal with a friend. It is quiet and comfortable.

Tini bar is a terrific wine bar/restaurant -- they have great wines by the glass, a really delicious cheese plate, and a homey, relaxing vibe. We liked it so much we hired them to cater our wedding (which they did a fabulous job of, BTW)!

The roasted potatoes are particularly delicious and everyone who works there has always been really nice. Sadly, it is ALWAYS packed!

after a long, hard day making mobiles and painting hands...the one thing that keeps me going-- is knowing that i can walk down the block--open that beautiful green door and plop myself down on the perfect white duck cotton couch and have all of my senses stimulated...while relaxing to the scent of roasting rosemary,i start invisioning the quintessential comfort meal for me...which usually involves a really rich cheese,a crusty bread, some warm olives..and a generous pour of malbec...and if monica's made a tart that day...i'm in heaven..
