"Neil Ganic has been opening and closing versions of this restaurant around Brooklyn for over a decade now, and the latest incarnation, straddling the BQE in western Carroll Gardens, provides delicious proof that the bargain-seafood concept works," says New York magazine. Justin Hartung for Citysearch adds, "The aqua-blue space, minimally decorated with antique lanterns and fish-themed art, is no bigger than a boat cabin--convenient for Ganic's loyal, mostly local fan base, who can read the single handwritten menu from anywhere in the restaurant." (Since the menu changes often to highlight the freshest fish available, we haven't listed it here.)

"[Ganic] has gained a cult following for his seafood. He makes fresh fish stock daily, which enhances the corn-and-crab chowder and the crackling red-snapper fillet steeped in a coconut-milk–tinged saffron broth," reports Time Out New York. Blogger Eat It raves that "everything we ordered was delicious," and also shares a few know-before-you-go pointers: "It is BYO, and there’s a nice wine shop around the corner on Union where the owner will recommend something tasty. They do charge a corkage fee though, and it’s cash only, so make sure you’ve hit the ATM on your way over." How would you rate this place?

Have you confirmed that PC is still open and that Ganic is still in the picture?
Some recent rumblings about a possible shutter on this one...or that Ganic has hit the road.

Open or not, Neil Ganic told me himself that he is not a partner. Neil now has a restaurant across from Ikea ... in case the Swedish meatballs ain't doin' it for ya.

I think you guys may have it backwards. Gowanus Lounge recently ran a report that the place in Red Hook (Annabelle's/La Bouillabaisse) had closed. Neil was at PC yesterday...

It's terrific. Good vibes and good food. Certainly better than most in the neighborhood.

Ate here once, and really enjoyed the food and the atmosphere.

sad_otter, I don't have it backwards, but my conversation with Neil was a while ago. Not surprised if La Bouillabaisse closed; the location was low traffic, Ikea notwithstanding. Interesting to hear that Neil was at PC "yesterday," when he had nothing venom for his then-former partners. I'm out of the business now, but restaurant gossip remains fun.

Great place for a group to gather and take over the dining room. Lovely food, spare, precious. Sweet service, though not professional. BYOB is most excellent.

altervoce, are you sure you're not thinking of Korhogo around the corner, which Ganic used to be a partner in? (I know, it's hard to keep track . . .). In any event PC is wonderful. Great atmosphere, really good food, and well priced.

I'm with combustiblegirl on this one. It is Korhogo, formerly Bouillabaisse, that Neil left. He is very much still a part of PC. This is one of my favorite places Bococa.

good food, ignorant service. Server neglected to tell us to look at both chalkboards. We confined ourselves to one and we were less than happy when we realized the other board had listed what we wanted but our food was already on the table by then.

Love the food. Decor is lo-fi, but it works. Service is friendly but a bit on the amateurish side.

Just LOVE this place! Eat at PC once a week. If you're a fan of fresh fish and seafood, it's the best! Neil is always there, supervising and, lately, cooking. Which makes me think that his Red Hook ventures may have closed. But, PC is alive and well!

One of my favorite restaurants in BK. Delicious, well-priced seafood, BYOB, beautiful space. Can't go wrong ordering either tartar, the crab chowder, the fried oysters, and bargain basement priced ciopinni! Yummy..

Owner Neil Ganic is insane and has screwed over so many people in the neighborhood. That, and his food is uneven and so-so at best. The latest news-making incident: http://ny.eater.com/archives/2009/11/brooklyn_chef_goes_ballistic_throws_live_lobster_on_patrons.php
