"The name means 'gathering' and the visually pleasing restaurant certainly encourages lingering. Though almost subterranean, its clever low lighting and soothing grey stone and brick walls banish thoughts of basement dining," writes Citysearch's Erin Behan.

"Chef-owner Saeri Uyoo Park has cooked at Spice Market, Café Gray, and the Modern, but here she mines her own Korean background for dishes like kimchee stir-fry with pork and tofu, and steak tartare with Asian pear and pine nuts," says New York magazine. The Amateur Gourmet raves: "My excitement about Moim and the thing that makes me want to go back again and again was my entree: the Bi Bim Bap. Sizzling hot with an egg on top, I felt like I finally understood this dish: a fiery and festive explosion of vegetables and rice and, that essential Korean ingredient, kimchi. It was spicy, it was salty, it was substantial and it was so so good."

And when New York Times restaurant critic Frank Bruni reviewed Moim back in '07, he declared, "With a little more maturation, a rethinking of a bit of its menu and better service, Moim could join the increasingly populous club of Brooklyn restaurants, like Franny’s and Al di Là, that Manhattanites rightly and badly covet." What do you think about this place? Has Moim hit its stride?

I can't say enough great things about this place. It is fantastic! On my 2nd time to Moim, I brought two of my Manhattan friends here. They were both born in Korea and eat out A LOT in Koreatown. They were quite skeptical about "good Korean" in Park Slope.

They RAVED about the meal, and said it was better than anything they've had in Manhattan. They've since been back multiple times.

I just ate here again last week. Delicious! I had the Bi Bim Bap, per usual!!

One of the top places to eat in Park Slope, hands down.

Best Korean fusion in Brooklyn

We've gone through this before. The food is good, the service is so-so, and the management is blatantly dishonest, double-billing us on our credit card, acknowledging that they double-billed us, and refusing to correct the situation. BOYCOTT THIS RESTAURANT! With new management, keep the chef, and we can all rave about the food. Finally, while I'm sure there will be some, "oh, that didn't happen to us and we love the service and management couldn't be nicer" comments, it only takes a few thefts on credit cards, and Moim "earns" a lot of extra revenue each month. For example, Moim cheats one out of each 100 patrons, they're adding a lot of income each month. DON'T LET THIS HAPPEN IN OUR BROOKLYN

Absolutely love Moim. I've dined there several times and never been disappointed with any of the dishes I've tried. I am utterly in love with their Kimchi Stew. It's super-spicy, served boiling hot, and is fundamentally delicious in all ways! The atmosphere is very nice and the service has always been pleasant.

The biggest complaint that I have with the place is that the window decorations out front make it look like it's shuttered - I've had friends who've gone past it a zillion times without ever trying it because they thought it was closed.

Overall, a definite must-try if you like any type of Asian food.

PPSER - I'm not quite sure what you're talking about, but the owner of Moim is one of the nicest people out there. He's comped our drinks almost every time we're there.

Have you thought that perhaps what happened to you was an accident or some sort of error?

I don't believe for one second that this guy is trying to rip anyone off.

After the double-billing, I called him and he said he'd take care of it. Left him my phone number. He didn't. I called him back a week later. He said he'd take care of it. He didn't. My wife and I went into the restaurant, showed him the credit card statement, gave him all the information. He said he'd take care of it. We even had a meal there on that last occasion. Not comped because we'd caught him. He still didn't take care of it. We're going through the credit card company now to redress the situation. He still could call us, apologize, etc. Nothing.

BOYCOTT BOYCOTT BOYCOTT

Someday, this restaurant's gonna end.

I dined at this restaurant twice in the 6 months after it opened and did not enjoy the food.

In contrast to 11217's friends, I feel that it certainly does not compare to any of the Korean places on 32nd street and I found that the "fusion" cuisine missed the mark closer to Applebee's.

Ok- first- this place is not trying to be like any other korean place in K-town. The food in K-town is generally good but its not high-end- and its not trying to be. Moim is trying to provide a more refined korean dining experience- and I think for the most part they succeed. I found some dishes off and the fact that the pan chan is so small and limited is a bit disappointing but overall- I really enjoyed my dining experience and I'm excited to take my parents and in-laws there- to see what they think.

We like Moim and cannot comment on the irregularities noted above.
Want to point out that Moim now has a $25 prix-fixe dinner that includes two courses and a drink. This menu is offered, I believe, on Monday and Tuesday evenings only.

I have been to Moim a few times over the past year and the food is great. I am not an expert on Korean food, but we have loved the bibimbop, the meatball appetizer, and the shortribs. I really like the atmosphere and the service has always been attentive.
