'sNice

'sNice, the Brooklyn offshoot of the West Village vegetarian cafe, gets props from Chowhound BklynBlaise: "My favorites are the vegan panini (made w/ smoked tofu, sun-dried tomatoes, & pesto on grilled ciabata), the curried cauliflower wrap (w/ chick peas, brown rice, and a side of mango chutney), and the thai salad (w/ mesclun, mung bean sprouts, diced cucumbers, shredded carrots, cilantro, edamame, peanuts, sesame seeds, and a tasty carrot ginger dressing)."
Betsy Andrews of the New York Times enjoys their take on the Philly cheesesteak: "At ’SNice, seasoned ground soy sausage, rabe, fontina and roasted peppers make for messy satisfaction." But she has less appreciation for sNice's Reuben, in which "stalwart tempeh crashes the party like a cop."
Vegifide notes: "About half the menu is vegan and the restaurant is entirely vegetarian. A few salad options along with a bunch of cookies and cupcakes that are labeled vegan... They also have a tofu scramble wrap which is a good option since there aren't many daily breakfast options in the area." How would you weigh in on this place?

Their Thanksgiving Leftover Sandwich (tofurky, cranberries, brussel sprouts--available only seasonly, I believe) is out of this world! However, I prefer the Village location hands down. Employees are extremely friendly, good tunes, and nice interior. I've only visited the PS location once, but the stainless steel interior and bitchy counter person were less than welcoming.

I live on this block and was a bit skeptical when it first opened, but I've found it has better vegan food than what I am used to. It's a real drag you can't get milk with your coffee or muffins made with butter, but for what it is, it's ok.
I do hope they build out the yard on 3rd street with some kind of deck. It seems like they plan on doing this at some point.. don't know why it didn't happen over the summer.

Love this place ! Sandwiches are great. We've been there a bunch of times and never a bad experience from the food or the service. My favorite thing though is that they don't allow computers on the weekends. The coffee squaters have been thwarted !

I love the sandwiches. however, their hot chocolate is crap. for the best hot chocolate go to the perch. it may be a bit expensive ($4.5) but its like nothing I ever had before.

LOVE 'Snice. Great sandwiches and sides. The only thing lacking is the lemonade -- why from a bottle and not freshly squeezed? Seems out of character for this place when it's so easy to make and found at so many other places along 5th Avenue.

'sNice is nice. The space is pleasant, if somewhat austere. The sandwiches and salads are quite tasty. V-spot should learn from this place and make vegan food that isn't vile.

Gee whizz, what's wrong with S'nice? How could anything be wrong with S'nice? It's so positively... "S'NICE!" Why, it might the s'nicest place I have ever been in my entire empty, and seemingly endless life!
This is Brooklyn, not an imaginary island San Francisco located off the Vermont coast.
