"Nestled in the heart of the Myrtle Avenue restaurant strip in Fort Greene, this cozy spot decorated with tin paneling, velvet-textured wallpaper and chandeliers is prime stomping ground for romantic hipster rendezvous (with and without baby strollers)," writes Citysearch's Liz Zack. Time Out New York says, "The menu at this charming Clinton Hill restaurant... boasts a roll call of Southern, Latin and Italian dishes, but only a few transcend mediocrity."

According to Jonathan Dixon for New York magazine, "One highlight is the plate of tender ribs, which are braised in wine and served with buttery mashed potatoes, swiss chard and a fresh biscuit, delivering on the comfort that the setting advertises." And Dana Bowen of the New York Times calls the menu "frustratingly unfocused," but notes that "Maggie Brown is at her best during weekend brunch, when the sun streams in through the windows and the kitchen turns out fluffy stacks of pancakes and sizable omelets." What do you think about Maggie Brown?

I've never been here, but just wanted to comment on the exterior - I like it a lot. Always looking for a good weekend brunch spot, will have to check it out.

I have had great burgers, super duper martinis and other comfort foods. Nice staff, booths cool

Maggie Brown's used to be one of my favorite places in the neighborhood. Then they changed the menu to something less delicious. The price went up and the food declined. They took the good stuff off the menu and the staff is evermore hurried (unless they are lounging at the bar) and inattentive and they also seem to collectively suffer from amnesia. A "medium" burger is always well-done. Almost always I hear "we were out of your side order" but nothing to replace.

Get it together Maggie Brown!

ditto Clinton Hillster. As a Pratt alum from the days when all Myrtle had to offer was the A&P and Kum Kau I was excited when Maggie Brown's opened up -- and not only that, served a pretty good menu and cocktails. Sadly, over the past several years, I've found the quality of food and service steadily declining, so I also don't go anymore. They also used to make smaller plates (which I wish more restaurants in general would do) but they took them off the menu.

I think Maggie Brown is one of the better places to get brunch in Fort Greene/Clinton Hill. (It's also one of the only places that also serves a decent cup of coffee at brunchtime). They've got a nice range of options that are all reasonably priced. The service is nothing to write home about, but I have never found it too bad. The look of the interior is great, and the garden out back is a real treat in the summer.

The can close up this slop house and I really wouldn't miss it.

Had hash/eggs breakfast there one morning....I couldn't swallow it - it was soooo nasty. And there is a rank odor that comes off of the food servers. I don't know what it is......but Maggie Brown is the pits!

MB is hit or miss. When done right, their fries are the best in the neighborhood. The key words, are "done right".

Same thing with delivery. Often the DM doesn't have any change.

I wish it wasn't so but the food here has gotten worse, especially in the last year. I hate to say it but these days it's just plain bad.

We stopped going two years ago because the service had deteriorated to such a stage that leaving a tip was no longer warranted.

That's a shame because the back yard space was to die for during the spring and summer.

Oddly enough we've found that we could get food faster if we had it delivered than if we were actually in the restaurant.
