Le Gamin

"This popular and inexpensive café chain specializes in French street crepes, sugared or salted and stuffed with everything from Nutella to smoked salmon to ratatouille, or any combination thereof," writes Andy Bailey for New York magazine. And they've recently taken their show on the road with Le Gamin Mobi, a truck peddling crepes, coffee, sandwiches, and other snacks. (You can usually find it at the Grand Army Plaza Greenmarket on Saturday mornings.)
"Scrumptious food, laid back ambiance, cutie help and huge cups of joe make Le Gamin one of my favorites in Brooklyn. The best breakfast dish in the world is here: poached eggs atop ratatouille and potato cake. TO DIE FOR," says Yelper rusty b. But Chowhound brooklynbyotch, another Le Gamin fan, disagrees with this recommendation: "The only dish I would stay away from is the Oeuf Gamin at brunch - (which is basically eggs served with a hockey puck) The crepes are delicious and not overwhelming. The service is lovely and in the warm weather the garden can't be beat." What are your thoughts on Le Gamin?

I like their roasted Chicken Crepes with Swiss and mushroom. Would be nice to see a little more on their brunch menu, but the food is solid.

The strongest, most tasty coffee on Vanderbilt, and I am obsessed with the light and crusty almond croissant from Balthazar. My favorite sandwich is the Merguez {lamb sausage} with lots of mustard. My mouth is watering just thinking about it! Obviously, I love this place, it is a must on weekends. Especially when the weather is crappy, it has a cozy and warm atmosphere that can't be beat. And in good weather, eating outside in the beautiful garden is great! For dinner, my fave is the goat cheese and leek crepe, satisfying but light.

I love this place (though not good for low-carb eaters). I know this is really simple, but I love that you can get hot lemonade with a mint sprig in a big giant bowl. It's awesome for a cold.

Every once in a while, i stop in and I always think, "why don't I come here more often?" Once, I took shelter inside the place while a Evelyn car was engulfed in flames across the street; the staff was quite pleasant and the smells were delicious.

The quiche has it's moments. I like the side salads served with shaved carrots and cucumbers and a simple vinegar dressing. Nice sandwiches and crepes. Haven't tried anything too fancy. The oeuf gamin has been just OK in my experience. The sauce with my mussels on the last go 'round left me with a bad taste. Comfortable, and almost always prompt friendly service.
