The Chocolate Room was recently named the 2009 Best Dessert Cafe in New York by Zagat. Chowhound shivohum belives the hype: "The brownie, which was warm and light, seemed an ethereal expression of chocolate that melded perfectly with the denser hot fudge beneath it, the cool refreshing vanilla ice cream above it, and the crowning, luscious whipped cream and chocolate shavings on top. All five layers together were a transporting sonata, a meditation on chocolate, cream, eggs, texture, and temperature that was transcendent."

New York magazine's Ethan Wolff has another favorite dessert: "The signature dish here is the chocolate fondue, rich and not too sweet, warmed by a votive candle. Pound cake, pineapple, banana, and strawberry are provided for dipping, though the best offerings are the homemade marshmallows, chewy cubes with a flecked candied shell." Citysearch's Erin Behan adds, "Wines are helpfully paired with each dessert on the menu, and coffee, tea and soda is also available." What are your thoughts on this sweet spot?

Scrumptious & Mouthwatering!!

Chocolate ice cream is heavenly! Cupcakes are the best!!! If you delight in the sinful pleasures of chocolate, you won't be disappointed. Eat them there or take them home and enjoy them privacy.

I'm sure everything here is yummy. They hooked me at the chocolate sorbet (with port!)

Stellar! A little pricey even for this chocoholic. The service was really attentive and friendly. Highly recommend!

Mmmmmm, chocolate pudding! So glad they're practically around the corner so I don't have to shlep to 5th Ave. And they were great about delivering a cake to Dumbo for a bat mitzvah party too. Really nice to deal with.

the truffles are really really really great. I was when I got tea there and they weren't really prepared to do "to go" drinks which i thought was weird. but I love stopping in for a truffle when I'm around there!

Yummy pudding. Fondue is memorable, but not interested in repeating the experience. Home made ice cream is delicious. Get something with the ice cream in it. A float will do nicely.
