Tempo - CLOSED

Citysearch's Justin Hartung calls Tempo "a Park Slope interpretation of a Barcelona restaurant--white stucco walls, square panels colored in soothing desert-accented hues of yellows, greens and browns, a tin ceiling shining with polish, and curtained windows in the back offering just a peek of greenery."
"The cuisine's strong pan-Italian backbone borrows heavily from Spain, France, Greece, and Morocco," says Andrew Sessa of New York magazine. And Time Out New York shares their favorite menu items: "Signature dishes like chickpea fries in green olive aioli and the surprisingly creamy mushroom polenta inspire flashbacks and repeat visits, while the sticky date-and-toffee pudding is transcendent."
For a romantic night out, Chowhound FoodWine prefers Tempo to Al Di La: "The space is very nice, with good atmosphere, the food is delicious, the service is good, and the wine list is the best one in Brooklyn (not counting the wine lists at super-expensive event restaurants like River Cafe or Peter Luger)." What do you think about this place?

I like Tempo. Service is incredible. Decor is on par with the price (unlike Al Di La). I love the Rib Eye.

We're longtime fans of Tempo. Good food and excellent service with professional waiters. Great prices. Really comfortable and clean with plenty of tables. Good cocktails. It's the only upscale restaurant in Park Slope where you can so comfortably fit large groups like birthday dinners and rehearsal dinners.

I'm another one who has come to prefer Tempo over Al Di La. I used to go to Tempo's predecessor restaurant to wait at the bar until a table at Al Di La opened up. Then I discovered that the food and service are better at Tempo, and you can actually get a seat (they even take reservations - how delightfully retrograde!).

I don't find anyhting spectacular about the place, but is has always been consistently very good. I'm not there at the peak times, but even so it never seems as crowded as some of the other restaurants around, so much so that I've wondered how they stay in business. On par if not better that its peers, which I'd consider to be Stone Park, Convivium, Blue Ribbon.

imo absolutely the best Park Slope has to offer, and beats Al Di La. Inventive and changing menu, good wine list, excellent service, nicely spaced tables. Well done all around. Not the cheapest in town, but at least here you get what you paid for. The one situation I ran into at Tempo was acknowledged, well-handled, and I was comped dessert and drinks.

Agreed. I think I prefer this to Al Do La also. But I REALLY like Tempo Presto and I don't think it's there anymore. They had the best meatloaf sandwich I have ever had!!

Sorry Tempo is terminally pretentious.
From the overly-solicitous speech patterns (would we care for bottled or tap?) to the "request" to not put your coat on the back of the chair (what, it spoils the decor?) I've not enjoyed the times I've been there. Overpriced wines, too. Food is very good, but the experience is not.
If I wanted Manhattan snooty and Manhattan prices, I'll schlep to Manhattan.

cmu hit it on the head. Temp would fit in perfectly in Manhattan. It just doesn't fit the neighborhood.
I also found their service and atmosphere to be pretentious. The wine prices are also completely outrageous.

I like this place even if you pay for what you get. The food has always been great and the gimlet with a splash of muscato is one of my favorite cocktails.

This is the best restaurant in Park Slope. The owner is a little precious and the staff can be rather pretentious, but the food is fantastic. Every dish I've had there has been
wonderful and picking standout dishes would prove difficult. Oh, ok. The Duck Pastilla Rolls, the Bucatini, Rack of Lamb. Even something as pedestrian as roast chicken comes alive at Tempo. It is easy to run up a large tab, especially if you take a wine "recommendation", but Park Slope would be a poorer place for the loss of Tempo
