Melt

"The inside looks like a West Elm display: chocolate and white walls with C-shaped cutouts and serpentine bottle shelves," says Time Out New York. And NeighborBeeBlog finds that the abundance of tempting items on Melt's menu makes it difficult to order: "If I had unlimited time, funds, and appetite, I’d go back and order the proscuitto di parma and melon, crispy lobster dumpling, yellow fin tuna tartar, crispy pork shoulder ravioli, shiitaki mushroom and avocado ravioli, chipotle portobello mushroom burger, kobe beef burger, or the pinenut and basil crusted salmon."
If you're looking to sample a few items without breaking the bank, Melt offers a 5-course tasting menu for $25 on Tuesdays (which can be served with 5 wine pairings for an additional 20 bucks). Chowhound di82 recommends it: "I'm a big fan and it's certainly a great value. I think the chef is very creative and assertive with flavors which makes the tasting menu on Tuesdays a lot of fun." And blogger VanessaMarie suggests stopping by for the Swedish vanilla pancakes served at Melt's weekend brunch: "We had no idea they’d be these mini crepe-like pancakes and we were delighted when we saw them." What are your thoughts on Melt?

Living around the corner on Flatbush we became regulars of Melt. Wonderful, friendly service, relaxed vibe and tasty, creative brunch items. Fantastic eggs benedict and french toast -- quality ingredients every time. They serve small, tasty muffins before your meal. Good coffee and insanely delicious veggie bacon.
We've enjoyed a few dinners there as well, very reliable and delicious. Prices are reasonable too.

This place is solid. We've been a few times and the food has always been good, as has been the service. Thw wife works at West Elm so any place that sponsors them is fine by me !

Melt is a great place - god for couples, friendly also when you're dining solo too. Can't miss option.

I had a good Kobe Burger at the bar once, so I decided to come back for brunch with my girlfriend. Little did we know that the hostess/waitress would ruin this place for us forever. It was about 11am so we were the first ones there. The hostess sat us in the corner of the empty restaurant... the table where the plumbing pipe hinders your space. Strike 1. We asked to be moved to ANY of the other available tables and were then seated at the 2nd worst table in the completely empty restaurant. Strike 2. Whatever... we ordered our food and were good to go. Another couple walked into the restaurant, and the hostess (after trying to put them at the plumbing pipe table), sat them DIRECTLY next to us... in the otherwise empty restaurant. Both couples, after sharing a hearty WTF moment, just went about our business... intimately seated. I guess they were anticipating a morning rush, but no one else came into the restaurant until our check came (and THAT couple was seated next to the 2nd couple!!!). Sorry, but Melt has been ruined for me. Too bad... the food was great.

I've been to Melt many times and it is always a solid and delicious eating experience. The Tuesday Tasting Menu is good and fun and different as I haven't encountered many "tastings" in restaurants around here (know where they do this anywhere else?). It's a fun way to sample the menu and a fun way to spend a Tuesday. I especially adore the brunch. Service is a little uneven at times the food is very good.

I haven't been here for brunch, but the second time I went for dinner (after having been quite disappointed the first time) sealed it for me: the food is totally uninspiring (soggy, flavorless lobster dumplings, for example), and despite the generally pleasant ambience, I have to report that we were also seated in that cramped corner table even though there were numerous other tables available! I won't go back.

It's great having this restaurant in the Slope. The Kobe burgers are always delicious and the Tuesday Tasting Menus are a lot of fun. For a while they were opening on Friday lunchtimes, and I made a habit of going for the Avocado BLT which was truly excellent. It can get a little backed up, but given the size of the kitchen I think they work wonders.

Just been there for brunch. A few nice spin-off's of some standards. And one of the few Park Slope brunch places to bring your dog (sidewalk eating area). The design of the restaurant is a little overwhelming... much prefer the 'olde' looking trend in new restaurants these days.

My first experience at Melt was to try the $25 Tuesday tasting menu. I couldn't have been more pleased with the variety of selection and the refined use of spices and natural flavorings. Most particularly, the soup starter. Clearly, the chef understands that the use of salt is to bring out the flavor of the ingredients and not be a flavor itself. The soups are creamy and sensual. The plates began as appetizer size portions with the last at dinner plate proportion. The deserts are designed to satisfy at the end of the meal while not be too sweet. Again, hail to the chef for understanding the inherent sweetness in foods without relying soley on sugar.
A favorite of many who sit to eat and chat at the bar is the Grilled Kobe Burger. Not only is it a huge chunk of meat replete with a host of condiments, it is served with a huge bowl of delicious crispy string style french fries.
The bar drink specials are delightful, creative and far from the standard fair.
Recently, I have sat for brunch at Melt and am in love with the Cajun Crab Benedict and Baked Eggs in an Eggplant, Artichoke Ragu.
Considering the number of selections on the main menu and that all is cooked to order and to taste, it is a wonder that the wait staff are as good and as adorable as they are.

Melt is the best restaurant in North slope. The servers yesturday were very friendly. The food at melt is always fresh and delicious-especially the daily specials. Every dish that comes out of that kitchen is absolutely worth every dime. The Chef is very creative. The owner is great. She works hard to make melt work. The St. Germain cocktail is smooth. There is nowhere else in the slope that can compete with melt. Its been my favorite and will continue to be my favorite today, tomorrow and on and on.
