"Luz has a modern look and none of the forcedly festive joie de vivre you might associate with nineties-era Pan-Latinodom. The menu reads like a greatest-hits list of the Latin American larder, and for starch fiends, it’s hard to abstain from the sweet, lush arepas, filled with melted cheese and dabbed with cilantro pesto, or the trio of toothsome empanadas, both accompanied by a refreshing watercress salad," says New York magazine.
Peter Meehan of the New York Times adds, "Appetizers like mango and habanero-sauced pork ribs are worthwhile; lechon asado is a standout among the entrees. Two or three hungry art students could make a meal out of the gigantic Peruvian-style rotisserie chicken and a couple of sides like black beans and rice or a heaping helping of maduros." Chowhound ShanDeez is a big fan of their watermelon mojitos and says their food is "as close to perfection as one can go with simple fare." And Time Out New York recommends saving room for "a Mexican take on the overplayed, soupy-centered, warm chocolate cake, amped up here with spicy chocolate, warm bananas and pineapple ice cream." i love it so so very much. dined for my roommate's birthday and had an incredible experience... so much great food and great drinks and a very reasonable bill!

I have been to Luz several times and always leave saying I should come back more often. Both the food and drinks are great, as well as the actual design of the restaurant. Great use of the space with the banquet seating as well as lighting....an element often overlooked. Bartenders are very friendly as well. Luz-II????

I love this place. Its been a favorite for a long time. The menu is amazing and changes just often enough to keep us interested and the drinks are good.

Love Luz! Really nice inside and the food is delicious. Wait staff is very friendly. Drinks are awesome. Haven't been disappointed and enjoy dining here very much.

I've only been once but it was really a great experience. Great drinks, really good meal. If I didn't live so far from Myrtle, I'd be back more often.

We have become regulars -- even Crabby McCrabby loves it. Nice people, good food, pleasant neighborhhod feel -- why we live in Brooklyn!

The food and drinks, in particular, the arepas, ceviches, and the watermelon mojito, are simply wonderful! Each bite is better than the next! In my opinion, the service is a tad lax, though quite friendly. I always wonder why the drinks come out at such a leisurely pace. And, unlike many people who have posted their reviews thus far, I find the decor to be a little off for the neighborhood. Overall, this is a restaurant worth trying out and then returning to again and again. Consistent and delicious!

Yes -- the drinks - the biggest problem in service is that it takes forever to get a drink! Why is that? And simple ones too -- a glass of wine or something on the rocks. The rest of the service is very good.

I luv this place. Good ambience, good food, great service and lots of atmosphere. Reminds me of the Brooklyn version of Sofritos,just a tad quieter.
